not some where i will be returning - not a happy vibe and too pretentious, pricey and uptight for me. good luck to them though they're in the right area!

We had a great meal here last week: an all-round combination of attentive professional service; generous portions of interesting, well-prepared food; great range of wines; and a vibrant atmosphere. The tenor of the service was set right from the start when we were first acknowledged the moment we stepped through the door, then greeted and offered a couple of different choices on seating by a lady who appeared to be the manageress, and from then on our waiter successfully hit the perfect balance of friendliness and formality that so often eludes serving staff in London. The open plan kitchen was lively and bright, and there was a great buzz from the bar area next door. It was a rare night out for us as a couple and felt like a real treat. Highlights from the meal were the plump Crayfish Cocktail and the beautifully cooked Hare Braised in White Wine. We finished off with chocolate mousse served with raspberry sorbet and accompanied with a rare Pinot Noir dessert wine, something I have never come across before. In all it made for a lovely night out, and we are looking forward to going again. Well done.

I've just come back from a meal and it was very expensive. Good food, but overpriced!!

The service tonight was good, but it was too uptight for my liking. I generally enjoy eating out but if i was invited here again I would probably pass - it's as if everyone is rehearsing for a school project!

If you have a spare £90 for a meal for 2 and are ready to be miserable check it out!

i've eaten here only once and i probably won't go back - i definitely won't be going back if i'm paying! the staff were lovely, very helpful and the food was good - but for what you are actually getting it is way overpriced. The resturant is well decorated, but it is all a bit stuffy. The manageress was a bit full on and the staff need to relax - the whole place takes itself a bit seriously. The kitchen is open plan and it's great to see the chefs work - extensive starter and main course menu but not so much choice on puddings.

I've been to B&D 3 times now, once for lunch in their opening week, once for a coffee and then yesterday for lunch with 2 other girlfriends and my baby. I love this place already. The service is great. The restaurant management is self-aware. In opening week yes, they did have some teething problems with timing on getting food out to us. But, once it arrived we had nothing to complain about. Yesterday the calamari was crisp and inviting. The artichoke and spinach dip with crusty toast was really tasty. And as we were sharing we got the extra toast that we asked for - no bother, no having to ask twice and no extra charge either. Our salads were great. And when we asked for the dressing for the Waldorf on the side, again, it was no bother and yes, it came out with the dressing on the side. After losing Balham Kitchen & Bar (BKB) in Balham, I am so pleased we have B&D to escape to on a rainy Sunday afternoon, or any afternoon for that matter!

We had great hopes of B&D especially having received reassurances from the friendly front of house manager that they were completely unrelated to the disaster that was the previous two incarnations of the venue. Having visited twice we are disappointed with the caveat that the restaurant has now only been open for two weeks. The confused and overlong menu rings alarm bells immediately as does the cold and “clattery” venue; the bare tables are squeezed far too close to each other for any privacy or comfort. The service is well-meaning but thoroughly incompetent and the food is in the best case average - definitely at odds with the “optimistic” pricing. On a final note - the ladies toilets were very messy and untended on both occasions.
