Bhangra Beat (South Woodford)

Having just moved into the area we went to Bhangra Beat with a couple of friends who were visiting for the weekend. My boyfriend had had takeaway from here before but never eaten in the restaurant.
The restaurant itself was smartly decorated and the tables aren't too close together. There was supposed to be live jazz on but the artist had cancelled at the last minute - but the background music was very pleasant.
The food was lovely and there was a lot of it! For £22 per head with a bottle of wine and 4 large cobras it was really good value. We were so stuffed we could hardly make it home!
The waiting staff were very friendly although we did have to ask 3 times for a jug of water. The service wasn't hugely speedy but then we weren't in a rush and wanted to enjoy a leisurely meal so it was just right for us. When we had finished our meal one of the waiter apologised for the slowness as they had been busy on the take out side (England having beat Australia at rugby seemed to be a reson for people to have take out).
Overall I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area. I will certainly become a regular (if my waistline can handle it!)

Food was fantastic, it's definitely not your typical Indian, the menu was great. I loved the Lamb Roshni & Chicken Rajeshwari. The Bengal Fish was pretty good too. Garlic nans were fab. Wine list was better than average.
The place is decked out nicely & we were made to feel really welcome.
Service was good but a bit disorganised at times, but that won't stop us going there again & again.

Well i came here with my friends for my birthday with alot of my friends as we love indian food and as it was our first time we didnt know what to expect.
When we left it i was i didnt regret going there on bit!
First of all the music was brilliant and at times i felt myself nodding my head to the beat of the song! The atmosphere was great as there were many people around and i generally enjoyed being there.
And the waiters/service was great here as they were very friendly and had general conversation with me which was nice to see in a restaurant.
The food there was amazing. They had a great selection of wines and drinks and fortunately they had one of my favourites. When we ordered they gave me complimentary popadams which i loved and they gave some sauces with it. I chose the chicken tikka masala which i loved! It was sweet enough and i generally loved it and by the look of my friends faces im sure they loved it there too.
Ultimately i am extremely happy that i came here and that im definitely going to come again and i recommend this to everyone who likes indian food and likes a bit of jazz. I highly disagree with some of the reviews down there as this is a fantastic restaurant.

Bhangra Beat is an excellent local restaurant. I have used them 3 times now - once for eating in & twice for takeaway. I have found the food to be 1st rate.- the Malabari Lamb my personal favourate. The place looks immacuate, and the staff are friendly and genuine. They have some nice touches like complentary papadams at the start & after eights & bailey at the end. The pirces were very reasonable with their web offer.I will re returning very soon.

I strongly disagree with the last review. I am a regular diner at bhagra beat & I have found it to be a pleasant airy restaurant that serves great food. The service is efficient & polite. I have been using this local restaurant for over 5 years & I have always been delighted with the Dine In meals & takeaaways.
I think it is inappropriate for diners to be write abusive reviews of restaurant when their expectaions have not been met.

First impression was good, nice decor, then it all went down hill. Dont know if it was because we had the two for one meal deal but as soon as we told the waiters this, they became rude. And the food was dreadful, my partner had lamb tikka for starter, now when I picture a tikka dish I expect it to arrive hot and sizzling this arrived cold already served on a cold plate, and looked like dog food. My mixed starter was cold also which led me to beleive that all this was precooked and just nuked in the microwave. Then the mains arrived, these where a little hotter in temperature and the sauce was tasty but we asked for chicken and they was fobbing us off with "TURKEY" when i approached the waiter about this he denied it was TURKEY and told us they boil their chicken thats why it tastes simlar to TURKEY. errr....no dont think so. Avoid at all costs.

Went here recently with a girl friend, had a very pleasant meal.
Waiters seemed a little rushed that night, but this did not at all detract from the fine balti cuisine, warm & tasteful decor and atmos, and chilled jazz-soul music.
One of the coolest restaurants in E18, perfect to take dates or mates.

Had a lovely meal here with a girl friend recently.
Waiters seemed a little rushed that night, but this did not detract from the fine balti food, tasty side orders and charming atmosphere, with its warm, tasteful decor and excellent chilled music.
Always a place for a treat, one of the coolest restaurants in E18.
