Introduced to this brasserie by a friend who eats there regularly. Fantastic evening, Shin of lamb was delicious. Very good value for money, service excellent and staff very welcoming. Would certainly eat there again and recommend if you are in this part of London. Great way to spend a Friday evening with friends.

Ate here on my last afternoon with a friend who lives down the street.
They have 2 prix fixe specials, one for lunch from 11 or 12 until 4 for 11 or 12 pounds. The one for dinner is a little more and ends at 7pm.
For the price you get a starter and a main OR just a (fancier, more expensive) main, for example, steak frites. You can add a starter with the 2nd main option for about 6 pounds. I have a lovely piece of seared sea bass (Delicious!) and then the steak frites. The steak was perfectly rare, but had a bit of fat that could have been trimmed.
The service was adequate but slowish. It was, however, late afternoon, 2ish, so the rush was over and everything was probably cooked to order. In addition, someone eating at 2pm is probably not in a rush.
The one true minus was with the water. My firend said he didn't want his (tap) water and the waitress went to take the glass away. My friend and I joked that I drank a lot of water. Later, when BOTH were empty and I asked for a refill, she refilled only one and I asked her to refill both. She remarked "I can top it up you know." ! Oh really? Then why are they both empty and I keep having to ask despite the fact you should have been aware that I drink a lot of water. LOL!! My friend and I are still chuckling about it.
Despite that we had a lovely lunch AND I would recommend it to others.

I was out with Big Matt and after a couple of cheekies at a couple of our favourite watering holes "The Champion" & "the toucan" we were a a bit peckish. Matt fancied our usual "Bodeans" but I was keen to try something a bit more grown up but equally inexepensive. We wandered down to the Prix Fixe Brasserie which promised all sorts of good deals.
We were offered a large table at the back but were then told the meals deals had finished for the day which was a bit annoying. We decided to stay and ordered a bottle the "Somnolier selection" eg house red. It has to be said it was pretty awful and for £14 i was expecting a bit better. We had ordered a couple of steaks so I wasn't expecting great things based on the wine.
However I was really pleased to be served a big fat juicy steak, properly seasoned, a good portion of chips and a nice side salad. For £14 I thought this was fantastic value. It made the wine choice all the more frustrating as this quality of meat and cooking deserved a proper cab sab.
The meal for two came to £50 which was pretty good. As a restaurant the decor may be basic however there is some talent in the kitchen as all the food coming to the tables around us looked seriously tasty. I would probably pop back again but this time go for a different wine.

PRIX FIXE is awesome!
The lunch is always smashing, for 9 quid, you get 2 courses!
The squid starter is some of the best calamari Ive had in london, and the 2nd courses are always great. Favs are warm smoked chicken and sun-dried tomato salad, or the beef bourguignon! Menu changes daily, so always something good!
Oh and the Steak and Frites, huge well cooked steak! :D
The host is also really social and a fun guy!

I found this place very average. Our food was bland, unadventurous and nothing we couldn't have cooked ourselves, on a bad night.
The place was also a little bit cramped, and there were a few people in there who were a little the worse for wear.
Disappointing.

It can be difficult to sort the wheat from the chaff in Soho and restaurants vary wildly between the horribly pretentious and the downright naff.
In this context Prix Fixe is a gem. The menu offers tempting European style classics (think fresh asparagus and hollandaise), the wine list is good but not pretentious and the service is very friendly and relaxed.
Prix Fixe is an unassuming place done out in bistro style, so it's not somewhere you'd go to impress your latest beau, but if you're looking for excellent food, good wine and friendly service at a surprisingly reasonable price, I would recommend it highly.

Went there on Valentines night - was a bit apprehensive as standards often drop on such a busy night in many restaurants. However - Prix Fix was an utter delight - i just cant wait to go back - such a surprise to find a little gem in the middle of London.
The atmosphere was warm and friendly - staff were smily and the manager was very chatty and endearing, we even got some free drinks! The menu was a set menu on valentines - but there was a nice selection. For starters I had a warm chicken salad - very nice, not too heavy - not to sparse - and my main course was seabass - just delicious. Very fresh - and a very generous portion. My date had the steak - it was huge and he looked pretty darn satisfied. Creme Brulee with raspberries to finish. yum! (we think it was the best we have ever had) .. although it was valentines so perhaps we were juswt in a good mood!
Service was fast, efficient but not too in your face - the interor was warm and very Parisian.. and there was a great bussle in there. Top top of the night, there was a very unintrusive piano player tapping away for the night.... i felt like i was in a movie.
