Very delicious and tasty food, the atmosphere was calm and perfect for a romantic eat out and the desserts were mouth watering and scrumptious... Overall the everything was perfection...

We've been using this restaurant at least several times a year for fifteen years. We travel more than 20 miles through London traffic to get there, and there must be at least hundreds of similar restaurants that would be a lot easier for us to get to. So it won't come as a surprise to find out that we like it.

What this restaurant is. Its reliable - I don't think my wife and I can ever recall eating badly here. Its friendly. It has good fairly swift, but not rushed service. And its great value, especially if you go on one of the several occasions in the week when the food is half price. My wife will tell you that their Parma Ham with melon is always superb. I particularly like the fact that they always have grilled squid ( not the nasty deep fried squid rings mind you, the real thing). The house wines used to be a weakness, but thats been sorted out now.

What it isn't. A gourmet experience. There's not a lot of experimental cooking going on here. The menu doesn't change much and whilst there's always a board of specials there are few surprises. It isn't a luxurious environment. Its origins as a butchers are still clear to see. If they've had a delivery of soft drinks or beers recently you might find a pile of boxes near your table or making the trip to the downstairs loos a bit of a zigzag. The service is polite and friendly, but there's no grovelling.

I think everyone needs a place like this, For us its a "local" but an hour away, albeit reasonably close to some areas of London we enjoy to take a walk in.
