The Distillers (Smithfield)

This pub was awful. I have never had the displeasure of being served by such rude staff. They seemed much more interested in giving drinks to their friends at the end of the bar. The barlady ripped down the "Reserved for....." signs they had stuck to the wall whilst people from the party were still in there with some strange glee/aggression. The best bit is my friend went to get two pints, the second being pulled short so the delightful woman at the bar told him that the first pint was "over filled" so that makes up for the second one. Ridiculous attitude and so unneccessary on a night out. The bar manager was also rude. I wouldn't go back to this pub if they paid me. If you want somewhere decent for your Christmas party of whatever, look elsewhere. An unfunny joke like their stupid obviously-written-by-them reviews floating around the Internet. At least these types of places are numbered - people will vote with their wallets.

well we went in for our christmas party last week as my boss had said we couldnt have it till january and we had a great meal with beef cooked to perfection (the manager said all was sourced from the market over the road)

nice staff and ok wine (my boss only stumped for the house)

will definitely be back Maybe next week i hope for their 2 4 1 cocktail deal!!!

Our staff Christmas party was held here and I must say it was by far the worst party we have ever had. It was mainly ruined by the food. It was simply awful - all three courses. The starters felt like they had just been defrosted and the dessert was very plain. The main course was the worst meal I have ever paid for in my life. It was supposed to be a trad. Christmas dinner but what I got was honestly as if yesterday's unfinished meal had been garnished with Worcestershire sauce and slammed in the microwave. At that point, if we had the option to do so we would have left but being the festive period everything would have been packed. The wine was very average (and I'm not being a snob - it tasted bitter) and the whole ambiance of the place made it feel like an old pup whereby a group of luck contestants had been given £500 and 24 hours to turn it into something really great - they failed (although the toilet area was nicely fitted - spend a lot of time in there).

We were charged over £80 per head to endure this - I will not be going back nor do I recommend the experience.

I ate here and found the food was great, my steak was nice and large and cooked perfectly. What more could you want!!

I found this place to be a bit strange! Although it looks like they've spent £££'s on it, the service and quality of food unfortunately doesn't match. A shame because it looks so impressive! I'll prob go again for a pint, but wouldn't recommend having a meal as there are better (and cheaper) places nearby.
