I've been to the Fulham GBK before, which was excellent, the Canary Wharf branch which was fairly good, and Spitalfields which is very, very POOR.

The service was a mix of disinterested, miserable and somewhat vague. The restaurant was only about a quarter full, and we were seated and then moved due to cleaning - the irony being that the table we were moved to wasn't exactly spotless.

The chips tasted bizarre - couldn't put my finger on it - perhaps a combination of old potatoes and stale fat? literally inedible.

The burgers themselves came out on dried out buns, and were distinctly unremarkable.

All in all, I really and truly would have been happier to have paid about 1/3 of the price in McDonalds - for the atmosphere and friendliness of the staff, as well as the food quality!

Noisy, no atmosphere, Raw burgers when we asked for well done. Offered us a mini tub of icecream and a lukewarm coffee to take away when we were leaving. Dont bother.

Some things about this are just right. It is clean. The staff are efficient and welcome you. The food is made from fresh, high-quality ingredients. There is enough space. Damning with faint praise ? Yes.

Others have complained about queues and long waits: anywhere busy will struggle. Nowhere that gets the basics wrong will ever have a long queue or a long wait.

But that said, the overall effect is pretty dismal. The staff are efficient but not very happy. The prices are ridiculously high. The portions are much too large. And this is about as far from the refined, delicate connossieur of food that the word "gourmet" implies as you can get. The cooking is simply heating the food and arranging it, and the food is simply fuel, not for delight or enjoyment.

Don't go. This is a dreadful, overpriced, bland international chain.

The burgers are OK. The (original) price is expensive for what it is. And the chips are almost £3 for a very small portion. I only visited because of the '2 for 1' offer on burgers - still have to pay £3 for chips though as burgers don't come with sides. I will definitely stop as soon as the offers expires.

Im not sure what the fuss is about this chain of burger bars. The actual burgers are okay and the garlic mayo with the fries is very good but thats about it.

The ordering system is strange the staff don't seem to happy and the wine and drinks list is short.

Overall okay but if I want a burger I can think of several places to go first.
