Three of us went on a recent evening, having been before and enjoyed it.

The food was a disappointment: Fire-grilled Poussin was dry and not very enticing, the Hunkar Begendi (Sultan’s Delight) pleasant but rather bland. A seafood kebab however was good - nicely cooked and flavoursome.

Place was busy - booking a must.

Service OK - reasonably attentive but a bit hit and miss in terms of listening to what we wanted!

Overall - very average this time and expensive for the standard of cooking.

I hope this was just an off night but I'm not sure I will go back in a hurry.

I went to Kazan with my partner recently and it was the perfect place to go for the both of us. The main thing is that my partner got full up, my biggest fear was that he wouldn't! Just tells us that the portions were good as well as the taste! It wa delicious and I would go again. We got greeted warmly and was shown our booked table immediately. The atmosphere was beautiful and the decorations were amazing. We had a great experience for a great price too. We were very comfortable with the place we was sitting in as well as with the staff.

I would recommend couples who would like to enjoy a lovely dinner in a Turkish cuisine.

I hadn't been to Kazan for a year and had good memories but last Friday night was a disaster. Happy to wait for a table as we hadn't booked and the wine and first course arrived promptly. Then nothing. After 40 minutes I asked where our main course was and got a response I hate in restaurants. "Sorry, there's a big party here." I pointed out that no customer wants to be told they are less important. A complimentary drink was offered which I refused. I wanted the food we had ordered not more alcohol. An obviously hastily prepared "Ottoman Grill" turned up with burnt meat. The manager saw me on the London Eating website on my iPhone and almost ran across to knock our drinks off the bill. So we didn't pay for the wine. But really not good enough.

Kazan is one of my favorite resturants in the world! Having traveled extensively around the globe, dined on everything from horse meat in Central Asia to steaks at Ruth's, Kazan always provides a memorable meal when I'm in London!

all i can say is amazing.

I have been there 4 times and each time the food gets nicer.. The food is seasoned to perfection.. I even think the porftons are getting bigger. I always ordered the Ottoman grill and i notice they started adding chicken to it. Considering you will spend 25 pounds on a starter, main and dessert its well worth it but to be honest with the size of the portions you dont need to have a starter because im usually full half way through the main

This place is average. For really good Turkish food, I think you have to go to North London. I would not visit as part of a big group, as the service is really poor, but it suffices as a place to have lunch with one or two other people.

Went here with my daughters on 13/04/2010. Was a Tuesday and we went around 5 and stayted till 7. It was quite busy for a week day. The staff were very friendly and helpful, excellent service. The restaurant is very stylishly decorated and the toilets were amazing. The food arrived quickly and was delicious. My eldest daughter had guvec (like a casserole), my youngest had fistik kebab (kebab made with mincemeat and nuts) and I had the mixed grill (variety of kebabs and garlic sausage). We were all very pleased with our food. Had Turkish wine which was very good too. I felt the food was reasonably priced, though the wine was a bit expensive. The waiters were attentive but not in your face. Will definitely go there again.

I had dinner here on two consecutive evenings this week with different friends. Our meals, and circumstances, were completely different but on both evenings the food was absolutely delicious. Service was great, atmosphere buzzing. Can't wait to go back.

I went for a romantic meal to Kazan the other evening and the decor was definitely appropriate for the occasion. Warm and sumptuous. Food did not blow me away though. It is good, decent cooking, but the combinations of flavours are not always exquisite. Boreks were lovely and so were the lamb and cumin sausages - but I'm not sure whether they make those in house though.

My garlic mash was average and so was the starter of monkfish and prawns. Chargrilled minced lamb was nicely seasoned, but the sauce it came in was bland and almost unneccesary due to its thinnes and lack of flavour.

Staff were charming and attentive. I loved the spiced Turkish tea. Didn't try any of the desserts. Not sure I'd go again. For great kebabs and similar food to this I'd probably opt for Maedah Grill....but then again Kazan is a much more beautiful restaurant!

A Rather Unusual Chinaman

A Rather Unusual Chinaman

Tuesday, July 28, 2009 - Lubricated by wine, we were brought some really top notch bread. Warm, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, it had a foccacia like consistency. Next up, cold mixed mezze...Although hit and miss, most of the food was enjoyable and on the whole, full of interesting and contrasting flavours and textures. What I can complain about is how stingy this place is. I wouldn't mind so much if it was cheaper, but at a fiver a plate for the cold mezze and 6 a plate for the hot, some of the plates were a blatant rip off.

Monday, January 26, 2009 - The fantastic mezze left me wanting more of Kazan but because of our pressing appointment with the wicked witch of the west we had to dash out the door. However, not before snaffling a couple of the small clouds of Turkish Delight that were brought with our bill. Indeed, it was probably the last seven seconds of Turkish Delight induced pleasure that impressed me the most about Kazan.

World Foodie Guide - 8/5/10

Friday, December 12, 2008 - I knew I would have to order the kuzu pirzola - marinated lamb chops, served with salad and a choice of garlic mash, rice or chunky fries (£14.95). The others had salmon kebabs - marinated cubed salmon, skewered with Mediterranean vegetables, cooked on the chargrill and served with ezme salad (£13.95) and pasha koftesi - The Pasha’s favourite dish - chargrilled minced lamb mixed with herbs, spices and Kashar cheese, served with creamy garlic mash (£13.95). Our friend is a regular at Kazan, and I have to say, I wish it were my local too.
