Went to Suchard with some colleagues, there were 9 of us, and from the minute we arrived it was clear they were going to rush us through. They took the starter order from half of us then rushed off the kitchen, I had to call the waitress back to take the order for the other half of the table, subsequently our starters did not arrive at the same time. They then started clearing away before we had even finished, one of our party had just put the last mouthful of food in her mouth and they whipped her plate away. Main courses came out immediately after starters. Food was poor, I had a red curry which looked & tasted pretty bad, one of us had the pad thai and there wasn't a single vegetable in it! They also got a couple of the orders wrong. Atmosphere was ok but the restaurant is cramped (waitress was banging into my chair all evening). They then brought over the bill without us asking for it. Extremely disappointing, I will not be going back.

Popular lunchtime Thai eatery in the Tooley Street area and nearly always packed (one might say cramped) so reserve a table unless you want to get seated by the loos downstairs. A typical dish will set you back around £5-10 and the staff are very willing to mix and match menu items with different combinations of meats and seafood. I tried the Pad Thai which was fine, didn’t appear to be pre-made but was made using a lot of sweet sauce. Portion sizes are substantial, the food came out reasonably quickly and the service was attentive. My friend had the ‘famous green curry’ which looked delicious!

Previous reviewer has got the wrong place. The owners of this restaurant do also have some connection to the pub down the road (do the cooking? own it? not sure exactly) which is also called the Suchard but the one at number 102 is definitely a restaurant not a pub. Not a bad one at that- don't expect any frills, but there are good cheap Thai staples to be had here.

Disappointed. Heard so many good things from here but I was really disappointed.
Good points:
Great atmosphere - restaurant was full on a Tues night.
nice duck, pancakes, hoi sin sauce. Lovely presentation and flavour.
Great value
Bad point:
One of the worst pad thais ive ever had. They used the wrong kind of noodle and the sauce was some bizarre sweet BBQ sauce that was mixed into the whole dish. It was so sweet. Terrible.
The lack of chilli oil/fresh chilli sauce. We were handed a bottle of chillis sauce which tasted so artificial and overpowering in flavour.
Maybe I chose the wrong thing but their noodles really need some work. Will be looking to have other dishes next time and this famous coconut rice.

Went there last week. None of the other reviewers mention the standout thing about this place, which is that in spite of the name it's a pub, and a very local pub Bermondsey at that. Not a Garrison-style gastro pub either, but a local. Large tv screens, pool table. We were there before the national smoking ban: the no-smoking signs were being ignored (as you might expect in a local pub), but I wonder whether things will be any different now. It's not the place to ask someone to stop smoking. Oh, and they serve quite good Thai food.

I went to this restaurant with my boyfriend and he had beenthere before. I walked in and thought HMMMM Not so much... But as the REAL FLOWERS on the table and the spotless toilets were noticed - which had 2 ply toilet roll I might add unheard of in London - the lovely quiet waitress took our orders. My man said have two sets of starters and I thought ok why not and well i was BLOWN AWAY.
The fired prawns starter was truly the best prawns I have ever had! OUTSTANDING!!! We had the coconut soup with seafood and I thought I had died and gone to heaven. We had dimsum - seafood again and then we had the fish cakes. Each mouthful was a taste explosion in my mouth.
For main I had the red curry again with seafood and it was lovely and the man had green curry which I prefered to be fair but both were lovely!
For desert and trust me save room!!! We shared the quartered pineapple which was hollowed out fruit stuffed with pineapple ice cream!! I truly coul not have thought of a better way to end the meal!
We had four starters, two mains one desert a bottel of wine coke and a bottle fizzy water with a 20% tip it was still only £60. It was an incredible meal, amazing restaurant and I will be there again this coming week! OUTSTANDING!!!

I have been there several times for lunch, the food was very good. Not exactly excellent as the fried dishes can sometimes be quite watery. My gf loves their curry dishes and one of their starter - fried mussels served with sweet and spicy sauce. Quite a variety of authentic Thai dishes, which is why I like it!
The price is reasonable, around £30 for the two of us. The service is ok and the atmosphere is alright.
Definitely worth trying!

Excellent value and friendly atmosphere. I had the Jungle Curry - which was very HOT and very good. I had coconut rice (as recommended by several other reviewers) - I have not had this before, but I'll be coming back here for more!
