This restaurant is outstanding. Hugely inventive and precise cooking, relaxed atmosphere and clever design. If it was in central London the awards would be flooding in. Go!

Someone in the restaurant really didn't want to share the food, although I can understand why. I called up to book a table three times being told that they were completely booked. On the off-chance I called again on the day and was delighted to find they could squeeze me and my friend in. You can imagine my surprise to find that there were only 5 tables seated throughout the night!
What a delightful meal, though. To start, lobster ravioli that melted in the mouth and fois gras that made had my mouth watering.
With such a fantastic entrance into our meal, the main courses had alot to live up to and certainly didn't disappoint. I confess that I couldn't make up my mind about what to have so we ordered three mains between the two of us. A classic venison dish was the thing that will stick in my memory - all the rustic, earthy, sweet flavours you would expect, that had that deer almost dancing in my mouth.
Pudding was a little more creative. Figs and tea. Not an unpleasant combination but I'm still trying to work out whether the peculiar fig jelly-pop should have ever been put on my table. It's not often that the most intellectual stimulation I get from a meal is working out whether the person who put that fig jelly-pop in front of me was extremely clever or completely insane.
Finally a piece of advice I have to pass on when eating a Drakes is to ensure that you leave room for the petite fours.
