REALLY NO COMMENT!!

I went with my boyfriend at the Akbar yesterday with The Times eat out promotion. This had been specified in the booking e-mail.

We arrived at the restaurant 10 minutes early (the restaurant was almost empty). The waiter, really rude, asked us to wait in the ‘bar’ showing his disappointment (because we arrived 10 minutes early!). After 5 minutes he invited us to take a sit and he gave us the menu. I reminded him we were there with the Times eat out offer. He replied the offer was not available that Monday (Valentine day). In the Times website some restaurant had specified that the offer was not valid the 14th Feb, BUT not AKBAR!!! I had also written them an e-mail.

I asked to check the e-mail, he talked (in the kitchen) with the manager and he confirmed us the offer was not valid. The manager of course wasn’t brave enough to tell us himself. We left the restaurant and they didn’t say anything, any apology any second thought.

Very disappointed about the restaurant and also The times offer !!!!

In addiction the restaurant doesn’t seem as elegant and clean as written in previous reviews, the entrance seemed more the one of an ambiguous night club.

At the end we had a dinner in another Indian restaurant nearby. Good food, and, above all, polite and kind staff.

I visited the restaurant on Monday. I was blown away! The food was delicious! It was a nice place, calm environment. The staff were very nice. Their signature dish, the 'Chicken murgh makhani' was one of the best chicken dishes i have ever tasted in my life! My family loved it, and I'm thinking about visiting again.

Love this restaurant! Good for eat in or takeaway.

The best Indian I've had in London. Great service, atmosphere, korma & cheese naan.

We decided to try The Akbar after receiving a menu at our flat; it was well worth the trip.

We had the set menu for two, which was very reasonably priced at just under £20. The food was excellent and provided in generous quantities. The lamb chop starter was fantastic, as was the lamb zacutti and the saffron rice. The service was pleasant with a refined setting.

We are sure to return.

Second time round at the Akbar. Food was really fresh and tasty, service was spot on. The Valentines deco is already up and I will definately be booking my seats for that intimate meal. If you have not been you must visit this hidden little gem in Pimlico.
