First visit, we were the only ones in there which rang alarm bells.

Excellent service, seemed to be reasonably priced.

Unfortunately the food did not hit the high notes. Nothing you would have really wanted to complain about, just dull. Pity, it was easy to park, looked nice but will not recommend.

7 of us went to Thai Eighteen on Friday 13th April and based on the day/date plus previous reviews, we were all keeping our fingers and legs crossed hoping food was going to be good.

We all love our Thai food and based on we regularly go to number of other well known Thai restaurants in London, the quality and taste of the food was excellent and the service was faultless.

We were there till 01:00 am and even though all of the staff had left by that time, the owner did not put any pressure on us to leave and spent nearly 20 minutes chatting to all us and was really polite, respectful and a true gentleman.

This restaurant definitely wins our vote and look forward in revisiting there again.

We went to Thai 18, 22/01/11- We have been many times before since they opened, when the food was very good, But has slowly and sadly gone down hill in many directions. 1) Initial service slow- ie drinks orders while you peruse the menu. 2) The food ordered was not of great quality, lamb in curry dish was limp and tasteless (maybe not real meat ! )- and bulked out with cold red and green peppers. Duck red curry was very disappointing lots of potatoes with little and very fatty bits of duck, which also contained unwanted peanuts, which were never in this dish on our last visit !! and not described in the NEW menu. However the seabass was ok as were the side orders (rice, noodles and pak choi )

We did express our disappointment to the manager, who of course apologized and offered free dessert,, but sadly after this experience we will not return,

We noted that the table next to us were unhappy also and said they would not be coming back.

Thai 18 you need to bring back the quality, that the people in this area are used too.

When this restaurant first opened a couple of years ago it was absolutely excellent. Unfortunately, it seems to have changed for the worse, in respect of the quality of the food & its preparation.

I have been to Thai 18 on a number occasions - the staff are very friendly and they are always very accommodating making the the dishes with more or less spice.

Great tasting food - it is as if you are in Thailand!

i've been to thai eighteen several times now with my wife and daughter over the past 6 months and have been delighted every time, the service has always been fine and the food is the best we have tasted since we started eating thai about 10 years ago,i would reccomend the main course of salmon or the chicken green curry and the yum talay salad is the best i've had since my first one at tip top thai in hampstead,

the owner robert is one of the friendliest people i've met, always has time to have a chat and is interested in his customers and actually reccomends other places to eat when we chat about restaurants we've used in the past, not many owners would do that,we eat out 3-4 times every week and there's only a handful of restaurants that we use regularly and this is one of them we are actually going there tonight for my daughters 12th birthday and it was her choice,

highly reccomended,

Can't understand the bad reviews. We have had several perfectly lovely meals here. Yes, it's not as authentic as some places in London but as a 'local Thai' it's very good.

Recently had a nice meal on a wednesday night. Good atmosphere with the piped-in piano music and the front of the restaurant opened up as it was warm. Staff seem to have changed since opening but the new waitresses are very good. Food was pretty good. Nicely spiced curries, tasty stir-fries and good pad thai. Would only skip the tempura in future as the batter seemed a little thick for my taste.

With the offers it's good value for a night when you don't feel like cooking or going somewhere formal. Would recommend others give it a second try.

I went to Thai 18 last week and have to say that contrary to Karen's visit I found the food very disappointing. I don't usually bother writing reviews but as the food was so disappointing I had to.

I went to this restaurant last Friday for the first time, and I was so impressed with the food that I just had to write a great review. I dont usually bother writing reviews but I found this food excellent, it is definitely the best Thai food that I have tasted, (it is catered for the Western palette).

We had been keen to try this Hadley Wood restaurant for some time. It being the only restaurant in a very affluent area we were expecting good things, and visited the restaurant last Friday evening for the first time. Unfortunately, it will also be our last visit.

What a huge disappointment! First impressions had been good. Thai 18 is located on a nice quiet parade in a residential area, and the interior of the restaurant is simply and tastefully decorated, furnished and lit.

Things started to go rapidly downhill, however, when the food (eventually) arrived. My starter dish of chicken wings was dry, tasteless and lacking in any noticeable meat content. The pad cee eew noodle dish (pad cee eugghh more like) was like tightly-rolled elastic bands and had almost certainly been pre-cooked and re-heated. My lamb penang curry was fine but uninspiring. I needed a steak knife to cut into my sticky rice. When I brought this to the manager's attention, he brought over some steamed jasmine rice, which was how the sticky rice should have been.

Service was also slow and amateurish. We had to ask for prawn crackers, for our food order to be taken, for water from the jug which they kept at the bar and for them to take our money. At one point, we watched as one of the waiters sneakily nudged a dollop of ice cream back into the tub with his hand having failed a number of attempts at using the scoop. Needless to say, we didn't order dessert. On the plus side the bill was only £37 for two courses and a bottle of wine, which included a 25% discount.

What a pity that such a nice space in a great location is let down by such mediocre food and service. Mercifully, portions are tiny.
