Byron (Westfield)

Myself and four friends popped into Byron on a wednesday night whilst shopping in westfield expecting to get a relatively quick and tasty meal, however the service was soooo slooowwww.....
The waiter was friendly but our drinks didn't come for almost 15 minutes, even though we had been staring at them on the counter and trying to get the waiter's attention to bring them to our table (it wasn't that busy in the restaurant!) Then he only brought the first two drinks over and bizarrely on his way back to the counter he started taking an order from another table! We had to wave to get him to bring the other two drinks over. When the food finally arrived approx 40 minutes after ordering, the burgers were tiny and two of them were cold. Add to this that nobody brought our fries over, so after 5 minutes we complained and got them to take it all back and give us new burgers. They promised to hurry and at this point we thought everything would be fine, but they took another 15 minutes to cook the new burgers and then when they arrived (still small), we were missing one order of fries which we had to ask for and eventually it arrived cold and we had to ask them to replace again.
The staff were friendly and accomodating enough, but my burger had a soggy bun and by this point none of us could be bothered to complain anymore. We were surprised when they actually tried to charge us full price for the meal! We asked for a discount and got about 40% off but the whole experience was hilariously awful. Good points were the decor and the milkshakes, which were amazing, but I would never go back to this place and wouldnt recommend it to anyone else. There are lots of much nicer and cheaper gourmet burger restaurant alternatives on the market.

It was Friday and we had tickets for the Wonderstuff at the Shepherds Bush Empire so we decided grab a pre-gig bite at the Westfield. I'd heard good things about Byron including Giles Coren's best burger ever boast so I steered Big matt and wee Gordon upstairs to the balcony area.
The restaurant wasn't massively busy but was nicely spread out, we opted for a booth. We had a quick scan of the menu and went for cheeseburgers, side of fries and onion rings to share and washed down with a spellbinding 660ml Peroni! The burgers came pretty quickly and though tasty I thought they were a bit small. This wasn't the definitive burger I had been promised. The ones at "ground" were better value and the "Sophies Steakhouse" black Angus version was a lot better. Sides were good, cooked in clean fresh oil. One aspect that did annoy me though was being charge £1.40 for a squirt of barbecue sauce. Totally over the top especially when at McDonalds you would get that free. Service was pretty good and the open kitchen is a nice touch. I wouldn't rush back but nice to know "Byron" is there if I fancy a small tasty burger.

Had read about this in Time Out last week so took the kids whilst doing some shopping. Big restaurant but thought the decor and simplicity was great. If all you want is a great burger these guys do it. Kids' meals are mini/finger size which was cool. Our waiter was efficient, friendly and surprsingly, English!!

Went yesterday ( Good Friday ) for first time. 20 min wait to get in. We went with another family, so 9 of us in all - 4 adults and 5 children. 35 minute wait for the food to arrive after we ordered. Waiter did not introduce himself to us. Nobody asked us throughout the visit of everything was OK . They also couldn't accommodate us all on one table and put 4 ( the girls ) of us on a table outside and 5 ( the boys ) squeezed around a table inside. Food was average - kids mini burgers were burnt, fries just about warm. Sorry but not a patch on GBK. Don't think we'll be going back in a hurry.

Had a great time getting some stuff for the kids in the (v good) children's section at Westfield and ended up at this new burger place on the top floor. Worried a bit that it wouldn't be 'female-friendly' but had a fantastic burger and a veggy salad too. Burger good size, not overcooked (as so many are!) and straight from the grill in nice soft bun. Cool retro feel to the place and really friendly service. Will definitely be going back with the family!

What a pleasant surpise amidst the chaos of Westfiield! We went on opening weekend and found Byron on the upper floor, cleverly removed from the crowds below so you can clear your head and relax....the design is cool and natural and much better than the "chain" restaurants next door. The food is really simple, just hamburgers and a few salads (for the ladies I guess), backed up by young, fun, English speaking staff. We thought the quality was outstanding. A very un-shopping centre sort of place, and all the better for it...
