Pig Pig's Corner
Wednesday, January 06, 2010 - Spider roll - a maki roll containing a rather large sized deep fried soft shell crab, it was pretty good. There were some inconsistencies with the sushi creation though, as we ordered two plates, one had the cucumber coating and the other didn't. Also, the roll is normally cut into six pieces, not four; the waitress explained this is due to a new sushi chef at work today. Caterpillar roll - my favourite maki roll of the night, firstly because it simply just looked fantastic. Secondly because the double dose richness of unagi and avocado was really good.

Friday, October 02, 2009 - While the fish was unquestionably fresh, I believe good sushi also takes skill in preparation, and in this department, I think Tomoe falls short. I'll reiterate that I am no fish slicing expert but I have had a lot of sushi over the years, and I do think that good sashimi is much like a sculpture which requires the delicate attention of an artist to chip away the rough bits, leaving just the bits that please...On the other hand, I would return to Tomoe for their excellent cooked food. The unagi in particular was a real winner.
World Foodie Guide - 7.5/10
Saturday, April 18, 2009 - Tomoe is spread over two floors, ground and basement. I usually don’t like eating in basements, although the sushi bar is located downstairs and I always like to watch the sushi chef at work. For dinner, however, my Japanese friend and I sat on the ground floor… Out of the two meals, I found dinner far more satisfying. I left feeling I’d actually eaten a very good meal, whereas the lunch of eleven pieces of sushi simply left me wanting more food.
