The Independent

Terry Durack - 16/20

Sunday, April 19, 2009 - The food promises to be lighter and simpler than at the Club, with more flexible options for snacking and sharing. A comp starter gets my interest immediately, with its moreish crisp shell of semolina encasing spiced potato, a play on the street snack gol guppas… The power and subtlety of traditional spicing gives Cinnamon Kitchen an anchor to the past that lets it incorporate some intelligent deconstruction and innovation without losing the plot. It means the food here is as Indian as it is modern, something I had never been convinced was possible.

Telegraph

Zoe Williams - 7/10

Tuesday, March 24, 2009 - I loved the interior – spacious, exotic, macho and classy, very carefully arranged but much too big to feel precious or oppressive… My roast lamb saddle, with mint-onion sauce and pilau rice (£18), was exquisite, a perfect pale pink, spiced subtly so that the meat’s young flavour was in plain evidence, nevertheless more exciting and varied than a straight roast… I will persist in loving the Cinnamon concept – dishes and combinations of flavours already much loved, twisted into greater and greater sophistication.

We dined at this restaurant after reading all the good reviews and we were very disappointed. The food is over priced and this restaurant cannot claim to be indian cuisine!!

Here are a could of reasons why I would not recommend Cinnamon Kitchen:

Waiting staff - Slow and unattentive - The waiting staff were so desperate to turn around the tables quickly, the waiter didnt even take our drinks order before the food, when we finally did place our drinks order they took 20 minutes to arrive plus they forgot 3 drink for which we had to wait another 10 mins!!

Food - The food is mediocre, the portions are served per person which is ridiculous for an indian restaurant. The whole concept of indian cusine and indian dining is sharing!! In addition, by the time the food came out it was cold so we had to send 4 dishes back!!! The bread selection was burnt and you are charged for the chutney - which is usually complimentary at 99% of other indian restaurants in the city. The flavour do not go well, they serve chinese style pork ribs with Masala mash?!?!!?!?

In addition, if you are thinking about going here for a celebration then think again - they charge you 'cakeage' if you wish to bring in a cake!!!

Overall - I dont have the energy to write anymore on how bad our experience was at this restaurant but if you are looking for a decent indian meal then this certainly isnt the place. If you like to look good and flash the cash then by all means go ahead!!!

It has to be said I was suspicious of here but it was fabulous. In an amazing setting where you can view the Gherkin from the covered outdoor seating area. The interior was beautifully designed and allowed for a wonderful birthday party. The staff were increadible friendly and helpful. The food was amazing just the way I experienced Indian cuisine in India and not in a curry house here! I would recommend this to everyone and already a friend has gone back.

Dos Hermanos

Dos Hermanos

Monday, November 17, 2008 - It’s an awkward space where even when full and buzzing you’d still not feel completely comfortable in. The service too was still finding its feet, being a bit overenthusiastic about the upselling and not completely clued up about Indian food. Everyone was friendly enough though (as they should be to somebody looking to spend money). Not that the food wasn’t good. Overseen by exec chef Vivek Singh it was mostly tasty gear, prepared with a light touch. Only problem was it was all just a bit polite and didn’t have that sense of generosity that you’d want or expect with Subcontinental food.
