Giles Coren - 2/10

Saturday, August 01, 2009 - There was an okay deboned quail and good wasabi prawns. And then I ordered the 'slow-cooked pork belly, feijoada bean puree, chilli mango' because it sounded at least Brazilian, and because I hate myself. I thought it was bland and dusty but Kielty said it was the best thing he had eaten in ages. Mind you, an hour before he had told me, 'I'm Irish. As far as I'm concerned, food is either burnt or soggy' - and as the feijoada appeared to be both, I guess that was the attraction.

Really excellent restaurant. I would highly recommend you try this little diamond.

The food was delicious, the ambiance was wonderful (especially for a Tuesday evening) and the service was delightfully friendly.

The prices are also very reasonable, especially for the ingredients they use (I know, as I consider myself a little bit of a 'Market Maven'). Some of the dishes are actually cheaper than at many lower end Asian chains I have visited recently. The sushi quality is very high and the food from the hot kitchen is creative, very fresh and skilfully prepared.

The wine list is also worth a mention. They seem to really have taken their time in coming up with such an interesting collection of wines. All the wines seem to have been put together with the food in mind.

Try this place out before it starts becoming too popular!

Had dinner here the other night and we all thoroughly, thouroughly enjoyed it!

We were supposed to go to Eight Over Eight but unfortunately due to the fire, we had to change our plans. Thankfully, sushino did not disappoint. The food was absolutely fantastic and the staff so accommodating.

I wouldn't say it's better than Eight Over Eight, as it is so different, food and atmosphere wise (there was even live music!). I would however highly recommend it and we will definitely be back.

We're just so happy to have another top restaurant here in Chelsea!

Been here many times and it gets better each time. We were served by a funny litle chap called Owen this time who looked after us perfectly. He was quite the character. All in all I love this place and the staff who are always genuine and effecient. Its become a regular destination for me and the wife now.

Great food, Great Service. Really is one of the best places to eat in chelsea. The fact that Giles Coren doesn't like it just shows that it must be doing something right.

A very decent addition to rather bland Chelsea.

Last night was our second time and the food was much better than our first visit. Seems that the restaurant still needs to find its consistency (or maybe we just had the wrong dishes first time around)). Ordered the sushino platter for starters, which was wonderful. Beautifully fresh fish and some unique creative rolls. Then had the halibut (possibly the best fish dish I have had in some time), the seabass (excellent dish, the dish that really brought us back), and the grilled prawns (huge delicious prawns). The sides of cassava chips was also great and reminded us of our holidays in south america.

Downsides would probably be the meat dishes we had the first visit, the pork belly was a little dry (slightly overcooked) and the wagyu wasn't very special (but then again it was quite cheap for wagyu, under £30). If they can get the meat dishes right (odd for a brazilian restaurant), then they really would really be onto something

As for service, it was fine. Not the best but everyone was very friendly and helpful. As long as it's not as cold or machine-like as Nobu, I am happy. Prices are also very fair for a restaurant in such an expensive area.

I have been here a few times now and I have to say it gets better each time. The food is amazing and always different(chefs sushi platter keeps me guessing) and the service is always great. I admit that it could be a bit more attentive but its got a brazilian feel and is friendly. I love it here. Its not trying to be Nobu so it annoys me when someone compares them. Its not even in the same price range. Great place

Don't normally write reviews (don't want to bore people with my drivel) but I was so very annoyed with a comment of a reviewer below. He mentions that the food wasn't 'right' as the head chef was from new zealand?! What does this even mean??

I am sure Mark Edwards at Nobu London or Franz Schinagl at Asia de Cuba or Colin Clague (Rainer Becker) at Zuma, would by rather amused by this comment.

As for sushinho, it shows a lot of promise. Not on the same level as Zuma, Umu or Nobu but then again it is almost half the price. The kitchen team seems quite young and it shows, but to receive a rosette in such a short time is no mean feat.

visited sushinho on the weekend and I was impressed. I am from Sao Paolo, so I was quite surprised with the fusion that was going on here. It started with the seaweed salad that came with a tahini based sauce (Brazil has one of the largest lebanese communities in the world), then the duck came with a molasses type sauce (as brazilian as it gets), the sushinho sushi roll is also very brazilian (deep fried and with cheese), and some of the sushi came with fruits (also very brazilian). All the food was prepared very well and the sushi was of a good quality. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere impressive (with great music). So we will definitely come back.

Had a great dinner here with some of my girlfriends the other night. Since I have heard so much about this place through friends and media, we were not disappointed. The food was wonderful and the cocktails some of the best I have ever tried. I also had no idea sushi could be this good! It really was melt-in-your-mouth kind of stuff. The interior is gorgeous and the staff very helpful and friendly. No wonder this place has gotten so much attention of late. Probably also why Robbie Williams was sitting only a few tables away from us.

I would highly recommend this place and we will definitely come again!

I've been to Sushinho a few times now. It is my love for Sushi that leads me back to explore more of the original fusion on offer. I have always considered spider roll maki's to be a favorite of mine, but I had to re-assess that after trying the recently added dragon roll. My friends and I were full on arguing over the last piece and had to settle the conflict by ordering another. Delicious!!! I was happy to see that some of the original favorites hadn't fallen off the revised menu. Wagyu beef with wasabi mash to be specific. I'm also happy to see that service has improved as well, something I accepted as typical but inconvenient teething problems for new restaurants that haven't yet found their "flow".

Sunday, January 04, 2009 - Sushinho opened a couple of weeks ago on what Lady Bracknell would call the unfashionable end of the King’s Road. Its USP of Japanese-Brazilian fusion is rather more U than most. (And rather U than me, you’re probably thinking.) But, while it may have sounded a bit odd, it wasn’t without promise. It actually turns out the pairing isn’t so weird: one moderately surprising fact for you is that Brazil contains the largest proportion of Japanese people outside their home country…
