I had the pleasure of eating the Waggoners while visiting Welwyn Garden City. I was recommended by a local who had eaten there since the change of management. Clear directions sent me to a 'Gem' hidden within Ayots Green.
A very warm welcome and a lovely table led me to the A la Carte Menu. Which was varied, interesting and a pleasure to read.
I started with a Crab meat pancake which I found to be light in texture and left me enough room for my Red Mullet Fillets.. both starter and main where superb and a joy to eat. For my dessert I decided to go back to healthy and ordered the Pineapple Carpaccio which was delicious as well as refreshing.... The wine list is excellent and tho mainly French there are plenty of New World Wines and the chance to return to a Wine Tasting Evening held every month. I was introduced to Laurent the new owner who I complimented on his food and service. Both where excellent, and I shall certainly return.

Under new management the Waggoners is even better than before. My wiffe and I were very impress by the French menu with foie gras scallops and even frogs leg.my wiffe took a millefeuille of beetroot and salmon tartar with a smoked caviar and I took the crab and cod pancake both starter were lovely presented and taste really good. for main course we both had the rack of lamb served pink and again the meat was tasty and tender a real pleasure. We were not to sure about having a dessert but then we saw the flambees trolley and I took the the crepe suzette and my wiffe ask for fresh fruit flambees which they did with no problems.
The wine list is extensive and very well balance even if they have more French wine than new world but of course it is a French restaurant after all.
We loved it and we book again to try there wine evening that they are doing once a month
