We had an excellent meal at this hotel restaurant last Saturday. My sister and her husband are regular guests and were treating us - and what a treat! Delicious food, beautifully presented and excellent service throughout the meal. My sister had advised the restaurant in advance of certain dietary requirements and these were accommodated without fuss, still leaving me with a superb meal. This is not the place to go for fast food, but for a pleasurable dining experience and a relaxing time.

Well. if you have four hours to spare then, you may well enjoy this. Undoubtedly the food is good - however it's all painfully slow arriving. Two hours for a three course meal seems about right to me - perhaps the staff were distracted by the busy wedding reception in the attached hotel. In summary - good food, slow service, expensive,

My wife and I went here for our anniversary and it was superb.
we arrived early for a drink in the bar, and staff helpfully added the drinks to our table bill, and gave us the restaurant menus to choose our meal before we sat down.
We were presented with lovely canapes like smoked salmon and quails egg before being led to our table.
the restaurant is fairly small, well decorated and has excellent service by the staff. the wine list is moderate in size but the gewurtztraminer i chose was excellent.
We were given the amuse bouche of gravadlax, then i had a starter of melt in the mouth red mullet with the surprising addition of bloody mary sorbet. My main, also fish, was delicious. We were given a pre desserty of strawberry 'soup' in a glass. My dessert was a journey of rhbarb: perfectly sizd portions of rhubarb crumble, parfait, creme brulee and coulis. We were then given small chocolates as an apres dessert. All the food was of the highest quality.
The cost for 2 people, with 3 courses plus 4 'complimentary' courses, 1 drink each and a bottle of wine was £140. Expensive but worth it for a special occaision.

Another year, another trip to this marvellous restaurant.
The occasion this year was my Mother's birthday. Even though we have all now moved away from the area, any opportunity to dine at Hawtrey's and I'm there in a flash.
The evening started with the usual canapes and the impeccable service and mouthwatering food continued throughout the evening. Two of us had scallops to start which were plentiful and juicy. The other two had the game terrine which was meaty and moist.
We then had an intermediate course of snails which weren't on the menu but the maitre'd remembered me from the previous year and the fact that I like snails and as they were on the menu accompanying one of the mains, an intermediate course of the shelled blighters were happily prepared. Again, another example of the wonderful service.
Mains didn't disappoint, red mullet cooked to perfection, venison beautifully pink with the contrasting bitter chocolate sauce that didn't overwhelm.
On to dessert.... the highlight was the basil creme brulee with orange and basil ice cream.... being able to clearly identify all of the flavours whilst remaining light finished the meal off perfectly.
I love this restaurant and can't sing the praises of the chef or the staff enough. I spent my childhood wanting to get out of the area to the bright lights of the city and now I spend every weekend wishing Hawtrey's was my local...

Midweek at 8.30pm, and us 6 were the only customers, so as to atmosphere - we were it! And very jolly we were too. Canapes dispatched and well into first bottle of wine in the bar, then shown to our table and the first of the gratuitous snacks whilst ordering - a fishy, oniony broth which was very good. Then wild mushroom ravioli with quail and some sort of balsamic dots - delicious, brilliant - wanted it again. Following on with roast monkfish on a spicy ratatouille which was just fine, I can't say any finer, topped off with nougat ice cream and cherry sauce which was fab. Could have done with bigger portions and some more veg/spuds, but perhaps I'm old-fashioned about these things. As the only patrons we were allowed to mix and match from the menus, so my pals got to munch beef chunks, roast cod and duck. Nobody complained about the food, quite the opposite indeed, all the meat was cooked as ordered, and we can't really comment a lot on service as there wasn't any competition to our table, except that it was quick and unfussed. Oh yes, hand-made chocs after pudding were very welcome. Don't go here if you like a big side dish of veg, or if you're partial to potatoes, they don't do that kind of thing on menu, although I'm sure they would have knocked us up something if we'd have asked last night. Our bill was £340 odd which included 3 bottles of nice wine and sundry pre-dinner drinks. Or was it 4 bottles? Overall it's nice to have a place like this in Ruislip. Go again? Of course, but maybe on a Friday/Saturday to get a bit more of a buzz.

We had our wedding reception in July 2005 and returned for a Valentine's meal this year. We've eaten at the hotel on a number of occasions and the food has always been very good. I'd highly recommend Hawtrey's Restaurant.

Went there in July 05 (better late than never) with hubby, I must say one of the best meals we've had. Food was excellent, I have limited pallette but the chef was accomodating. Service was wonderful, the maitre'd deserves special mention, seems to always be there when you need something but never in your face. The waiters were lovely as well. Only gripe, this standard of food and service deserves a better wine selection.

My girlfriend and I believe this restaraunt is a revelation , I have had 3 excellent meals here, once in a large group, on each occasion, the menu and the service have been impeccable. The spring onion risotto particularly deserves mention

Went for dinner, Sat night. Very nice room.
Went for tasting menu. Was good, although a bit too much food. Service was good. Howver the wine list is awful.
Would we go back - probabaly not, as there are better restos in outer London.
