Food is excellent, service is anything but.
I went here with a group of 5 or 6 people for dinner and ordered the curry chicken. I ended up not getting it. Or my rice side dish. I couldn't believe how rude the waitress was either... she was constantly rolling her eyes and talking to us like we were stupid. In the end, the receipt was in Chinese so we had to have one of the girls with us to translate the receipt so I didn't pay for the food I didn't receive! She had the worst attitude throughout the whole ordeal and I just can't believe the nerve of her or the fact that I was never given my dinner, which I clearly ordered. I would strongly recommend going to a different Chinese restaurant- one with more reasonable prices and much much better service.

I've been to the New China a few times with my chinese girlfiend, and we like the food - particularly if you ask for the szechuan menu. But I don't think I'll go back, because I'm kinda sick of being given incomprehensible bills, with a total at the bottom (which always seems to be £65). Obviously it's hard to spot mistakes unless you ask for the menu and sit there and add it up yourself - and there have been mistakes. Service is included in the incomprehensible bill (15% I think but I'm usually beyond higher maths), but of course that doesn't stop the staff, who are polite and helpful, giving you the option of paying an extra extra gratuity on your card.
So, nice restaurant, nice food, not particularly cheap, and shame about the bill - so sort it out. Simple list of what you've bought, and what each item cost, and how much service is added. Everyone else does it.
