Delicious dinner last night with live music-two excellent young French music students playing the restaurant's grand piano and guitar, celo and singing.
Very good value food and wine even though I notice service is now added on.

My wife and I dropped in for dinner here on a Sunday night, celebrating our first anniversary. We had a very enjoyable evening, with excellent service and very good food. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy but the atmosphere was still pleasant. My only reservation is with the comically bad singing pianist they had playing, but that was really more amusing than annoying.
We had a starter, a main, a side-dish and one glass of house wine each, and the bill came to just under £60. In truth the side-dishes were completely unnecessary because the portions were generous anyway, and I ended up taking half my meal home for lunch the next day!
I highly recommend the Toulouse Lautrec Brasserie and plan to visit again when I have a suitably special occasion to celebrate.

What a disappointment!
After being presented with the wrong wine twice (with the waiter not understanding why we didn't want a different wine from a different vintage) we settled on a substandard overpriced bottle which wasn't even on the list.
Starters were plain, which should mean 'simple or rustic' rather than 'dull and shop-bought'.
Mains were disappointing with meat overcooked and sauces thickened with cornflour in a most unappealing way. The dishes would have gone back if I had any confidence they could have been improved upon.
We took our desserts upstairs and listened to their resident jazz pianist deliver some pretty decent Tom-Waits style versions of jazz standards. The (passable) Tarte Tatin came from the Lobster Pot next door as they realised that my incredulity it wasn't on the menu was in danger of giving me manic depression. Decent dessert wines stopped me committing suicide.
I realised that by simply never eating there again I could save not only my soul, but also several quid...

Great food and very reasonably priced. The atmosphere in this family run restaurant is fantastic. The live music upstairs was brilliant, Bernie Clarke had the audience shaking the maracas, playing the drums and dancing until the early hours. This restaurant is an absolute gem.

The cote de boeuf is out of this world.....the best ive ever tasted in london. The homemade chips are brilliant and bernaise sauce very good too. A good bottle of red with that along with jazz music drifting its way down from the wine bar upstairs was a great nite, will go again soon.....

I've been to this place a couple of times now and it really is a wonderful experience. It's like being on holiday in France, not in Kennington. The food is fantastic (Cote de Boeuf was the best beef i've ever had), but it's the little details - the proper towels in the bathrooms, the immaculate service and the highly trained staff that make it worth a visit. If you want to go to a restaurant where you'll actually remember the experience a month later this is your place.

Food - it's far better than a french restaurant I had been in the West End! and it can compete with a lot of West End food. I am glad it does not have fries but instead they serve delicious healthy vegetables.
Staff - yes, they may seem amateur but give them a chance. I'd rather people who are learning to serve but can still serve properly than those impersonal service you get from a lot of other restaurants.
Don't underestimate the young manager, his father has been running Lobster pot for two decades!
Good, tasty, honest food. I will be happy to pay more than £22 for the 3 course meal!

The Brasserie Toulouse Lautrec is one of londons best kept secrets. I have become somewhat of a regular and enthusiastically enjoy the fantastic food and impeccable service. It is without a doubt the closest you can get to France without boarding the Eurostar. The food was a joy. Each course was really beautifully presented, each a taste discovery of it's own. Like a procession of culinary gifts, to be experienced and discovered. The wine list is extensive and the quality superb. The Brassserie is perfect for a meal for a couople or for entertaining guests. Without a doubt this is one gem I will not quickly forget.

Brasserie Toulouse Lautrec is probably one of the best restaurants to go to. This is my thrid visit at the brasserie. We were always welcomed with open arms. I am new to the area and proud that I made the right move. The brasserie holds this unique french charm, maybe its the food, the service, the live music or the french speaking waitresses. Whatever it is the combination of all these made the experience warm unlike many contemporary restaurant where you feel unwelcomed.
I had tried a few dishes already so far the cote de boeuf for 2 was wonderfully cooked to perfection. The lamb was my partners favourite dish as it was cooked for 24 hours. I sometimes wonder how it becomes so tender. I have to admit although all of the dishes I tried looked and tasted delicious, I find the menu somewhat limited in fish options. As for dessert the choc fondant is to die for with white chocolate ice cream.
Every evening there is live jazz music in the wine bar on the 1st floor, this is great for me and my wife to enjoy a night out with a hearty meal after a hard days work. The smoking terrace is another bonus as well are the victorian style toilets. Our next visit might be in the private dining room where there is no hire fee apparently.

We arrived on a Sunday lunchtime and the place empty, which turned out to be difficult to understand. I had a lovely creamy scrambled egg with salmon and toasted muffin (we were only after a quick lunch as we had another appointment to attend), and my partner had the toulouse sausages with a gorgeous pomme puree.
We both loved the food, loved the quality of the decor, cutlery etc.
We came back later for a glass of wine and to listen to the jazz band playing upstairs in the wine bar. Excellent three piece band, but again we were the only ones there.
This restaurant/bar needs your support London!
