Never before in my life have I experienced such appalling service.

firstly we ordered a starter and main course and requested that they came at the same time - to which we were told that wouldn't be possible as they were very busy. We shrugged it off.

Our starter came after 40 minutes ( one dish we were sharing) - this was simply tempura - fried shellfish. No apology or acknowledgement of the wait. Then after a grand total of an hour and 30 minutes we received our main course - a plate of sushi - something in most restaurants takes about 10 minutes to prepare.

When we came to pay I kindly asked that we thought it fair that we shouldn't pay for the drinks and the starter of tempura as we were not satisfied with the service.

We were incredulous of the waitresses reaction of essentially - we are busy and - we should have been in charge of telling her how long we were waiting for - and did we work in restaurants? After keeping calm and telling the waitress this was her job and therefore responsibility eventually getting the waitress to agree to take of the drinks and the tempura she came back with the bill which still had the service charge on! We got her to remove that and left.

This experience was not exclusive to us - during our evening we saw another couple a table down from us also complaining about the unacceptable service and wait.

We also noticed during our dinner that a husband, wife and their son had 20 minute waiting times in between each of them receiving their dishes.

Very, very poor - avoid at all costs - especially as the food is overpriced too.

excellent place - we went in to get some supper before a gig at the forum

great food - especially soft shell crab salad - didn't try the sushi, but fish looked super fresh

reasonably priced (£17 each - miso/starter/main no booze) and quick - we got in at 8.20 - back in the forum by 9.

so happy that this marvellous little (& I mean little it has only about 10 covers) has opened.

Skilfully prepared Japanese dishes prepared with not only care but great 'ingredients' too by someone who is evidently passionate about their art.

Freshest of sashimi, fascinating cooked fare, buzzing NY style bar furnishing, friendly proprietor & refreshing jasmine tea. Perfect tea to rid one of the cares of the working day!
