Food is generally good but the service was appalling both times I visited. They brought the wrong order but when this was pointed out the waitress was rude and aggressive. They forgot to bring the miso soup and when we asked for refund on this another waitress refused this, so I had to ask to speak to a manager (eventually they offered tea for free). On another occasion, we were seated 20 minutes late. The waiter brought a menu for dessert, but when we tried to order, he told us to leave as our table was booked. We had had only just over an hour since we were seated. I am not sure if it is worth the trouble.

Heard about Dotori through the grapevine and luckily booked up a place for Sunday as I read previous reviews that it can get packed.
Took a short bus trip and was pleasently suprised it's just literally a stone's throw from the station. Location of Dotori, which situates itself in East London is a BONUS as there is lack of/none of these restaurants here.
Dotori do both Korean and Japanses cuisine. We both decided to try Korean food and we ordered some Kanpoongi, broth - Kimchi Chigae and Yukaejang. Salad came as complimentary side dish, which was great and refreshing. The amount of Chigae and Yukaejang was generous and full of flavour. The Kanpoongi was meticiously presented and tasted great as well.
Price of the whole meal was just right and tasted like Home cooked food.
Service was good and atmosphere was comfortable.
Will definately be back very soon to sample the sushi as by looking at other patrons having them, it's mouthwatering.

one of my regular places. A rarety difficult to find these days in London. The atmosphere is very pleasant and the staff are very polite and professional. The food is surprinsingly fresh and the cleaniness standards are good. A must unless you are not into original oriental food but make sure to reserve a table if you want to be seated.

My friend and myself visited Dotori yesterday. We have been going for some years, the food is always delicious and the restaurant is always full. Service usually very friendly and efficient.
Last night however we were not impressed. We ordered, as always, one of the set meals. All dishes arrived practically at once (normally you will get them one after another). Only the bibimbap which is the last course came separately. After the meal we always order a pot of sake to share and did so yesterday. We ordered, waited, but no sake arrived. However, what did arrive at our table was a waiter telling us that we need to leave since they had a booking for our table. We pointed out that our sake had not yet been served and that we would drink it before we paid our bill (there was nowhere else to sit if you vacated the table, all the seats at the bar were occupied). When the sake eventually arrived we poured it and once poured a film of fat globules formed on top – obviously the bottle had been washed in dirty water. We pointed this out and asked for a new helping of saking. This arrived together with the bill which was slammed on our table – unasked!
Has Dotori become too successful?

In a neighbourhood of fried chicken, dealers of stolen goods and chain food stores, Dotori is an oasis of delicious, quality Korean food, relaxed service (a bit too much at times) and incredibly nice people. The jap chae is delicious, as is the seafood pancake. The sushi is only really good on Tuesdays, when the fresh fish comes in.
It's the best resto in the neighbourhood, but would benefit from more staff on the floor, when it gets busy (as in every evening). Highly recommended.

Despite high quality of their Korean food, I am fed up with their service!!!!
Their korean menus are fantastic but sushi is rubbish.
I think the reason why this restaurant is always busy is that there is not decent oriental restaurant in the area.
Everytime we go, we were served after 5mints of seating, and drink comes after food.
Some waiters are very rude, unkind and unwelcoming with annoyed face instead of smile. Some times, especially busy time, they are very offensive as taking our order. We were often ignored.
I felt very uncomfortable being here and didn't enjoy the night-out at all.
I will never come back again!

You would walk past this place and never notice - such is it's unlikely location right be the station. It is however absolutley delicious food. Yes the other reviewers are right - you do sometimes have to wait a bit but if you are a regular you know what to expect. Staff are unhurried, and consequently unstressed. some speak only a little English which may have been misinterpreted by some as 'rude'- I have always found the staff to be very pleasant and well meaning even if they are not sure what you are saying they still smile!!! I think the nature of the service only adds to it's charm, and often reminds me of how impatient and easily irriated we have become in London by those who take their time. I urge you to pay this place a visit - we should savour and enjoy our eating experiences, not bolt and run. Waiting for delicious food can make it taste all the better when it arrives.
