Primrose Bakery

The place definitely looks cosy so I give it credit for ambience (although more seating wouldn't be a bad thing!).
I had the earl grey cupcake and my friend the malt & marshmallow one. The icing wasn't bad - the cake had a dry texture and no flavour. They didn't have that 'freshly baked' feel, and I struggled to finish just one cake. M&S sell better cupcakes than the Primrose Bakery..
The service was slow. There were two ladies - one was scowling and when she came with the teapot she basically banged it down on the table and didn't even bother putting the cup in the saucer - instead just left it in a pile on the far end of the table. Service with a smile would have been enough..
The cupcakes were overpriced for what they were.

I visited this bakery two weeks ago as i have a bit of a sweet tooth and i had heard such a lot about this place. I ended up lost as i was given misleading directions by a member of staff when i rang to clarify exactly where the shop was. Anyway, the shop itself is quite small and easily missed if one isn't aware of the location. As for the products, i bought six cupcakes of different flavours, a slice of lemon loaf, lemon cake and one of the victoria sponge. I must admit i wasn't overly impressed with the cupcakes. The sponge was a bit dry and i just couldn't see what all the fuss was about. The lemon loaf slice and the lemon cake were ok. I definitely didn't like the victoria sponge. I'm glad i tried their products even though i was diappointed but i think i will stick to Hummingbird's products from now. Until i find something equally as nice at least.....
