I went to Chor Bizarre with my family and 3 English guests yesterday – it was meant to be a treat for my English friends who wanted to try good authentic Indian food. We had booked a table for 6:30 pm. We took drinks, starters, main course and desserts.
The service was very slow and we had to wait considerably between the various courses. We requested them not to put fresh coriander in any of the dishes but when the dishes arrived they all contained fresh coriander, which my friend is seriously allergic to. The dishes had to be sent back and replaced which delayed our meal further. To top it all, we were made to feel as if we were taking too much time.
The waiter who was ‘serving’ us was very rude. While we were having starters he pestered us to order our main course and when we asked for the menu cards, he retorted that hadn’t we had them for long enough before! We all also heard the waiter making rude comments about other guests in Hindi, but I am glad at least my English friends did not understand as it would have spoiled their evening too! Is this the way one enjoys a meal in a restaurant of repute?
We had gone on a valid discount publicised on the website but it was not honoured. This cheating was justified by the waiter in most unreasonable ways like we had occupied the table for longer than allowed, and that he had given a discount on some dishes. Not wanting to create a scene before our English guests, we left. The discount promised was nearly 50% but when we later checked the bill, the amount deducted from the bill was a measly £35 from a total amount of approx. £185.
I have been to Chor Bizarre before without a discount and I am sure the serving size yesterday was much smaller (nearly half) than their normal portions. We were not even given the full bill inspite of our asking for it, so that we may not be able to prove later that the discount was hugely inadequate.
If you ever intend to go there, be prepared to be insulted, cheated and made to feel small. You may be required to wait for food and then made to hear the waiter’s rude remarks. I am definitely not going there again!

went there on NYE, expected it to be empty but to my suprise it was full. Even though I had a reservation I had to wait 15 minutes. While waiting I ordered a cocktail. First the guy makin the drink didnt even knw what an apple martini was and he then used the wrong glass to serve it in. Very disspoingting spl if I had to pay £6 for it. Didnt have to wait too long for the food to arrive. Service was not what i expected very informal staff and looked very shaby. When the food arrived all bad points were gone...EXCELLENT FOOD!!!! loved the food. I will go back next time but hoping for better service.

This is possibly one of the worse restaurants I have had the displeasure of visiting, made only worse that I embarrassingly took my entire team of 17 to this so called 'Feast for the body and mind'. You are more likely to lose your mind waiting 2 hours for the staff to serve you, which was only made more infuriating when you were told that you cannot order a la carte because they feel a fixed menu would be cheaper and have more variety. I can assure you this was not the case, as 2 small meat and 3 side veg dishes were served per every 6 people at £28pp. I must finally mention the distinct lack of atmosphere in the basement bunker where we were seated.

Went last night, dreadfully disappointed. Started with an unusual cauliflower/broccoli tandooori. Cauliflower was okl albeit nothing special, but the broccoli had a very strange aftertaste, and my partner could not even eat it after a mouthful. The rest was average and ALL our curries were undercooked and almost cold! The quail dish we had tasted as though it was merely reheated (but not thouroughly) and the green peppers and onions that accompanied it were almost raw. Biryani nothing special, ingredients in dished were not very fresh or of high quality. Drinks were also lukewarm (beer in a bottle!).Seems as though this place is under new management or someting, there ws no smoothness in the wait staff, and the food has definitely gone down. It was much better 2 years ago. Go to Veeraswamey or Chutney Mary instead, or Gaylords. NO comparison in quality.

We went to CB on Saturday evening, what a GREAT find. Everything was interesting, the waiters were fun and knew the menu and were willing to assist, the prices were fair and the quaility and quantity were spot on.
I have eat in many resturants in London and in fact worldwide. I can totally recomend this resturant as a true place to go and will be recomending it to friends
WELL DONE< KEEP IT UP!

Went to CB for Dinner yesterday, It certainly has a nice ambience and decor about it.
Starters were average and enough in quantity... although the paneer could have been a bit more moist with a additional wet sauce around.
The Chicken was sufficiently hot... and yet managed to keep the subtle flavours of the fresh bay leaves which made it really good.
Overall good ambience and average food.
Certainly a bit costly for what they provide. I would prefer somewhere like Benares which would cost the same.

We ate at Chor Bizarre last night; I am sorry to disagree with the other comments but we had a really disappointing meal.
The decor is fun in a kitch sort of way. However, the chairs are the most uncomfortable I have ever encountered in a restaurant.
The waiting staff are friendly enough, though inept. We had to ask three times to get water (at £3.50 a bottle).
The food was the real let-down For a start it was cold. For some 'Bizarre' reason the food comes out of the lift is placed on a side table where the fanning of the doors opening and shutting ensures it gets cold, and then it is served to the table by another waiter. This happens to all the food for every table.
The food is no better than you would get at a local Indian. The scallops I had had large raw chunks of garlic in it and the spinach had big pieces of raw ginger. The salmon was good enough and the small lamb shank was passable. The chicken was stone cold.
Next time I am in the area I will go back to Veeraswamy or La Porte des Indes, which have much better quality cooking at a comprable price.

I have eaten at Chor Bizarre half a dozen times in the past year. The restaurant is a discovery which lives up to its cheeky name. It is indeed both bizarre and souq-like, the atmosphere a throwback to the bounties of a post-colonial past, and at the same time a restaurant that takes pride in the rich recent history of the Indian subcontinent. Overall I find the food is of a high quality, with an interesting and in-depth menu, and a wide choice of dishes mainly from Northern India but from Southern parts too. Nothing on the menu is particularly original, though most of the food is deliceately and skilfully prepared. The masala teas at the end of a meal are excellent, and the range of choices offered a thoughtful touch. Service is usually attentive and friendly, although from time to time the management suffer from "table shielding", the ago old tactic of keeping the best tables till last. In general, this is a restaurant I tend to go back to for special occasions, and usually enjoy it to the full.

Had a great meal on Friday night. The food was great, and the artefacts and decor added to the occasion! Would thoroughly recommend. The food was pricy, but was all made to a very high standard. Service was good aswell.
