Hazuki

I went to Hazuki with my Mum on a recent visit to London and were extremely impressed.
We were taken to our own booth and my orange juice came so freshly squeezed (just what I needed after all the walking in the heat). We ordered the Edamame and Soft Shell Crab to start and shared this between us.
I'm a big lover of sushi and have gone to quite a few places but I've never seen sushi displayed quite like this before. It looked so appealing and tasted so nice. Also, the edamame was served hot which I've never had before with rock salt and they were so tasty. My Mum and I both agreed that their soy sauce was also not like what we've seen before. At first we thought it was just thin and weak, but it's taste was just so much better than any I've had before.
Then my Mum had the Salmon Bento box and said it was the best salmon she'd ever had (I tried it and it was the most amazing flavour). And I had some mixed sashimi and I was really stunned when it arrived. Everywhere I've been to have just given me my sashimi on a plate, but this was in a bowl filled with ice which kept it nice and cold. It even had a cucumber cut in the shape of a flower with some wasabi inside.
Our only comment about the place was that it was very big, when it could benifit from being a much smaller, quainter place. I've tried many Japanese sushi bars and find the small, hidden gems tend to be the best. But that has hardly put us off.
We are coming to London again at the end of the month and are really hoping to go back. I can't stress enough how nice it was and the waiter really made us feel welcome.

I had dinner at this restaurant last night, i really liked this restaurant. This is a great location and the food was excellent , especially the Hazuki Nabe, it was delicious. After reading so many negative reviews, i was expecting it to be bad, but i was surprised to get the best food and service here. i really enjoy that.

Went to Hazuki last night. Food was passable although the tempura batter lacked any seasoning at all. The whole event was ruined by rude and uninformed staff.
Having ordered sashimi of yellowtail, I wanted a second portion and asked for hiramasa (yellowtail kingfish) to which I got a blank expression so then asked for hamachi (yellowtail amberjack) eventually asked for simply yellowtail now feeling slightly embarassed and uncomfortable at trying to fit in to Japanese culture.
The waitress ceased screwing up her face at me and disappeared down to the kitchen. Shortly after my wife went to the toilet to find the staff laughing at the guy upstairs as no one knew what it was that I had ordered. I understand that ignorance in Japanese culture is supposed to be shameful and find it incredible that a Scotsman can enter a Japanese restaurant and clearly know more about sashimi than the whole front and back of house combined.
If Japanese staff in a Japanese restaurant has such a limited knowledge of Japanese cuisine, it says something about the food they are serving. Having trained under Nobo san of Raffles Hotels, I do know my Japanese ingredients. I shall not be back to Hazuki again.

I was expecting something far better after reading the reviews of this restaurant, but the food was pretty average overall, and the blackened cod was actually really awful . I've eaten much better Japanese food in London, at Chisou and Roka to name just two.
The service was good and it wasn't too expensive, plus it was very near the theatre we were heading to so it wasn't all bad I guess!

Prior to eating at Hazuki, I felt that Japanese food was very good. After eating there, I now use it as a benchmark of how good Japanese food is. Without doubt in my eyes it is the best Japanese restaurant in London. The food is always so fresh, well presented and tasty. I would highly recommend Hazuki to anyone.

My partner and I went last night for the first time and we're blown away by the freshness and quantity for the price of the dishes. All of the ingredients tasted as good as (if not better than) the "top" Japanese restaurants. The service was fairly attentive, but most noteworthy was how friendly they were when flagged down for additional orders. We were the fairly impatient foreigners, and I think that's something you have to remind yourself when going to any nice restaraunt...having a quick meal isn't healthy, you should enjoy each dish and you should enjoy the company you are with.

I went to Hazuki last night before the ballet with my boyfriend and I thought the food was good however this was ruined by the service which was seriously poor and we had to leave before half our meal had arrived and whats more none of our food was brought at the same time so we just sat there watching each other eat getting more and more infuruiated.
If you do go there make sure you have a couple of hours and order the Black Cod.
Not recommened for a quick bite before any performance - Huge anticlimax

Hazuki was my favourite Japanese restaurant in London. Generous portions of outstanding sushi and sashimi. No more. Since renovation, they have gone downhill in a big way. The portions have gone smaller, and the sushi was dried out and stale. Guess it was left over from lunch. But they do have a fancy new web-site!
