We love Hazuki and use it for business lunches all the time. The food is delicious and reasonably priced for Japanese. If I've I could find maybe one issue - the service doesn't really come with a smile and if you get a bad day can be a bit haphazard but not enough for us to remember a specific incident.

Went here for lunch despite the bad reviews just to try it out. Mixed opinions really as my dish of Mackerel with rice, salad and miso was good but my partner's meal of pork belly was poor and not worth the £9. The prices are a lot higher than the website which is pretty bad form. Miso soup arrived first along with one small plate of bland pickles. it's quite a small place but smart furniture. The staff never smile and are rather curt but I knew from the previous reviews to expect this. I doubt I would go again as it's not great for the money and service is slow and unpersonable.

VERY BAD SERVICE WITH A VERY BAD MANAGER.

Myself currently working with a five star deluxe hotel went with my girlfriend to this place near my hotel . the order taker was ok and then when we ask for some more wasabi she mentioned that it will cost 50 p more. we dont mind paying but when we asked two dishes we should have two portions and when we mentioned that to her she was busy eating something which she threw from her mouth and rudely gave us a large portion of wasabi saying its complimentry from my side. wow. it seems she might be the owner of the restaurant. the food was good but service rubbish.

Must make a correction to an earlier review. Recently went to Hazuki and standards have fallen. Previously prices were reasonable, but they have started adding extra costs.

For example, previously mains were served with pickles, rice and soup. These are now considered extras. Anybody experienced with Japanese food understands that these should come as an accompaniment with your meal. An extra £4 for these is unreasonable.

Staff here are not Japanese. So don't bother trying to practice your Japanese. Something quite pathetic/amusing was that one of the managers was trying to act as being Japanese. He definitely was not. My suspicions were confirmed when he gave me my miso soup as a starter before all my other food. It should be served alongside your main meal as a side to compliment the bland rice. Sushi came with far too much wasabi already on, that the flavour of the fish was lost.

This place still isn't bad but is not as good as it used to be. I would now say there are many other japanese places which provide similar food to Hazuki for better prices such as Taro on Brewer Street.

Disappointing. Ordered the chicken teriyaki and had to send it back, the chicken looked like it's been fried days ago, and the sauce was sickly sweet and watery. Staff initially disagreed to take it off the bill ( i have not even touched it), and actually tried to give me a lecture on how a teriyaki sauce should taste like ( well not like theirs that's for sure)

This place came highly recommended so we were looking forward to trying it out. The food was fine. Decent gyoza and yakitori but a very average piece of cod teriyaki; didn't seem that fresh to me. One of the items was deep fried in what tasted like old oil and repeated on us all night; unpleasant.

Service was fine. Our waitress was reasonably attentive but annoyingly quiet.

Prices are a lot higher than listed on their website. We wouldn't rush back. Head next door to Les Deux Salons instead!

I came here with my sister in Sept ('10) (just realised - she left a review of this place as well!) and had a really good - memorable - meal - I thought that this would be my Japanese eating-gem and couldn't wait to take my bf here for an amazing culinary experience. BIG MISTAKE!

The service was so painfully slow (something I didn't remember the first time), having ordered only 4 dishes we were there for 2hrs - waiting for our food which came one by one, after a long while I wondered whether my sushi would be served so I reminded the waitress who just said "it's coming ok".?? At this point, there were only 4 tables with guests so I have no idea why it took about 2 hrs for our food to be made...

I didn't feel comfortable at all as I felt that the waitresses were rude and unhelpful when I tried to explain that I didn't order an "extra bowl of udon", they treated me like I was lying. Not good. Oh top of that, no one came to top up our green tea even though they told me they were "just coming". Even when I went to ask for the bill I was told "just wait ok", rudely.

Finally, I thought this embarrassing "un-romantic" meal would be made right by the quality of food from my first visit. WRONG AGAIN! The edamame was quite cold, (well, maybe it had been sitting in the kitchen for 30mins before it came to us?), the sashimi was good, but the sushi had less ingredients then last time and was badly made (falling apart) and the soba was pretty thin on taste and anything really.

Finally, the bill came to £38, for 4 dishes, hm...not good value.

I am really disappointed with Hazuki - especially when the first time I came here I really thought this place was amazing. I won't give this place another try because it was awful and I can't afford to waste about £40 on a restauarant that is not consistent. I guess I will have to stick to my usual haunts then,

Totally unacceptable service and the quality of food, sadly, had gone down since my last visit.

Went here on the 24 September around 7pm had no reservation. Never visited the restaurant before, this was a first time. The staff were friendly and quickly seated us upstairs. They had a good selection of food ordered tempura dishes and sashimi as well as some hand rolls and agadashi tofu. Everything that we ordered was really good. The sashimi was super fresh and amazing. I ordered a sashimi platter which had like 12 pieces for 15 pounds, which I though was great value. The only thing I didnt like was the agadashi tofu which was not crispy nor soft in fact the batter was glaggy and nasty wont order that again! all in all, it was a great experience and my sister was equally impressed. I eat alot of japanese food and it's a really great place. I didnt really notice the lack of music and the waitresses were swift and friendly!

Great Food, Very good value for your money...

We went there for my birthday celebration... The ambiance is quite nice, very cozy and relaxing. Food is superb, love their sushi, sashimi and hotpot of mixed seafoods and tofu. Nice and accommodating staff! Definitely will see them again in the near future.

This place is great value for money compared to many other Japanese restaurants in London, and I regularly visit.

The food is good, simple Japanese standard fare so don't go in looking for any avant garde/nouvelle cuisine or you will be disappointed.

Must admit that dishes arriving separately as and when they are cooked can be irritating, but have a suspicion the owners are not Japanese and so this is a sometimes seen custom in other Asian countries. This would also explain any miscommunication as seen by some other reviewers.

They have also started adding a 'discretionary' 10% service charge to the bill which is rather steep for the service you receive. However price is still reasonable for Japanese food in London. Overall a good place.
