I have been to the Maximini the second time of this week, actually I do not understand why some people gave such unfair review......at least, I always get very high satisfaction....the food is surper, and the waitress is very friendly and attentive, I never had bad experience, always love the dinning experience. I love Maximini and highly recommend.

My friends and I went to Maximini for dinner last night we could not believe the service - IT WAS APPALLING!!! Wong Kei’s service is FIVE Stars compared to the service received at Maximini.

The whole experience of Maximini was a complete farce from booking right up until we left the restaurant. When I originally made the booking over the phone the lady was rude and abrupt, I thought ok maybe she’s having a bad day. It turns out that was just the beginning:

1. We turn up to the restaurant to be greeted by the waitress with her back to us.

2. We are shown to our table with a grunt and arbitrary gesture to a nearby table.

3. They come for the food order before the drinks order.

4. We had a Taste London card and were berated because the card holder (present) did not make the booking.

5. The wrong discount was taken off the bill, when asked if this could be address (their mistake) – the manager/owner acted inconvenienced and would not reprint the bill.

6. I have never done this before, the service was THAT BAD!!! we asked for the service charge to be removed – again the manager/owner then said pay what you want. We asked her to clarify exactly how much it is we owed but she wouldn’t, so between us (3) we paid £40 to then have the manager/owner come back to say we were 30p short.

Recommend this place, NO WAY JOSE!!!

I live outside the country but visit London 5-6 times per year. This restaurant is always one of my stops. Nice, attentive staff, good food and reasonable prices.

This is my third time visit of Maximini, as usual, the food still great, the service is attentive, I love this place, cosy and comfortable! The sea spicy aubergine with miced pork in clay pot is the best aubergine I've ever had in london, even when I writing this, can't stop mouth watering......the beef is as tender as my heart.....Maximini, great found in central London.

will be back again,I give them 10/10, highly recommanded!!!

I have eaten at this restaurant for a couple of years now and it has never failed to disappoint. It is up there in terms of quality with the likes of Royal China and others, and in some cases, is much better. The food is always fresh, the setting very clean and the staff are lovely in their own way. Living around the corner from Maximini is a real pleasure, and I'm delighted they're here.

Very pleasantly surprised. Sitting next door having a beer in the victoria and took a look at the menu.

ended up sitting outside and enjoying a fabulous meal. Friendly staff and really good quality dishes.

not too pricey for the location, would be happy to eat here again a good little find.

This restaurant serves wonderful food. It has a lovely feel about it and has been tastefully decorated and dressed. The staff are obliging and polite and the service is excellent. The food is well priced, not expensive at all given its location. I have eaten there about 4/5 times and have not yet had a bad meal. My last meal was the poached sea bass (the second one of the two offered) and it came on a bed of pak choi and topped with a spicy hot sauce, which was cleverly made as it was not too spicy and you could still taste the delicious fish; it was yummy....try it.

We are from San Francisco, eat lots of Chinese. The waitress told me (she was very polite) that they cook Sichuan style. Well, we ordered spring rolls (4 small pieces)... it was freshly cooked, fatty, too much frying for my taste..

I had the lamb dish. Very small portion, tons of onions, lamb had rubbery texture... We asked for steamed rice, we got rice with egg pieces (partially fried?). No brown rice. I asked for a Tsing Tao beer in a bottle, I got a glass of beer in a Tsing Tao glass.... (No idea what kind of beer..)

Maximini sells take-out Chinese food for outrageous prices. You get a linen napkin, and the restaurant is very pleasant, it is clean and well manicured. Tourist trap, too expensive, not recommended...

I went there for a a family dinner for the first time. I agree with previous comments, the service was very good, and the restaurant is beautifully decorated. However, it would seem the one main component that is serverely missing here is...Good Food.

Based in the heart of London, I was very surprised by the lack of orginality and creativity in the menu. Nevertheless, I pointed out that perhaps the quality of the cooking would cover such a basic flaw, but I was wrong. It was, at best, average. I have tasted better in other local restaurants, such as Four Seasons, Royal China, New Fortune Cookie and even Gung Ho in Hampstead. My parents are now retired Chinese restaurant owners, and we all love to go out and eat at other restaurants, to explore new ideas.. unfortunately this has got to be the most disappointing meal we have had.
