Excellent - nice place, friendly people, and (in happy contrast to 99 per cent of Indian restaurants) really good, fresh food.

I have eaten there twice in the last year and I have to say that the food is some of the best that I have experienced. The service was also attentive and the "feel" in the restaurant is that you should enjoy your experience there. I stronlgy recommend a visit.

I had my birthday party in there begining of January after a recommendation from a friend, the reason being of their raised party area which is quite unique and makes it look special. We went for the buffet option which is quite good for the price and not bad for the mouth too! Im a fussy customer but they managed to cater for my taste with a signature dish of theirs- well presented and tasted pretty nice. Waiters were attentive without overpowering- they even brought me a complimentary cake. overall good experience, would I recommend? yes I would

been going to the dewaniam for the last year or so, but for the last 3 months the food has been tasting alot better, fresher and tastier, probs a new chef! guys are charming too but the presence of a waitress on the weekend makes it a bit homely with all the men there :)

Seriously, I want to have a decent curry house in Camberwell and this could be the one if it does us all a big favour - buy better quality meat. I mean lamb that isn't chewy and chicken that's succulent. I had a lamb dish the other night which was completely indedible. I know my neighbours who live near the restaurant say the same - they've given up going there. But the sauces are good and all it would take is to stop buying cheap meat. Please!

New Diwaniam claims to be an Indian restaurant but in reality, like most 'indian' restaurants in London, its a bangladeshi restaurant. This difference is reflected in the taste and names of some of their dishes.

I feel that most of these dishes have been made-up and aren't authentic and most of the people i know who live in the area an have tasted the food feel that the taste is just about average. Indian food when cooked properly is a a culinary explosion, a symphony of flavors, aromas and tastes. ND does not let you have that experience.

What's frustrating is that any one who has real knowledge of indian cooking wil be able to cook some very simple and tasty dishes that can blow you away. ND takes on more than its able to deliver.

New Dewaniam is an excellent restaurant, the food there is delicious, and I think it's great that they almost have two different menus, one with the usual korma, madras etc (which is all delicious) but also more obscure dishes local to the New Dewaniam area.

I try and limit the amount I eat out but when I do eat out, I find this place immensely satisfying, a little gem in the middle of SE London
