What can i say, I was impressed when I went to this restaurant with my wife and kids. The staff their was better at looking after me then my own mother in law, I think she should take a few tips from the staff hahaha. To the people in London, my advice is to try out this restaurant, you can make it a romantic night out, or a family night out, you would love it.

Staffs in New Dewaniam keep up the good work, because I'll definately be back!!

Thank you New Dewaniam for our curries for the last seven years, since we've had two children we haven't been out as much. But I remember the whole family coming to yours for Christmas day and it was delicious. The takeaway service is just as brilliant with many suprising dishes.

We will miss you when we move to St Leonards On Sea.

Well after all the poor reviews given below, I am happy to say that I really like this place!! We regularly use the restaurant and the takeaway, and have always been more than happy with what we've been served.

At first I was unimpressed by how empty the place always is - but this appears to be because they have a large takeaway business.

This is what I call a good local curry house. The have a really large choice, and the service is fine, and the meat is no harder than anywhere else!

Please don't waste your money here. I've lived in the area for 5 years and have given this place several chances to prove me wrong with the quality of food and cooking. It has failed every time. Their last chance to impress me was when they opened the restaurant at the back. Service was seriously lacking (they could barely be bothered to bring the food to our table). The food (ha!) when it did arrive was so unappetizing i didn't bother finishing it. Luke warm, bland and greasy. Don't be fooled by all the supposed celebrity endorsements, this place sucks.

We use the Dewaniam take away service about once a month. It is the best Indian takeaway we have texperienced since being in SE London, not only for the quality of the food but also fpr the friendliness and helpfulness of the service. I like to try something new each time - and however vague I am about what I want - they are always helpful and patient on the phone and I have never been disappointed with their suggestion!

I'm really surprised to hear the reviews saying the food isn't nice at the New Dewaniam. I get a takeaway from here about once a week and it's always nice - not fancy, but good straightforward Indian restaurant stuff. And the guys are always really friendly and helpful. But then I do tend to stick the old favorites... I don't venture into the further reaches of the menu!

I am really surprised to read about negative experiences at this restuarant. My husband and I dine here every week and absolutely love it. The service is always excellent, dishes very tasty and all very good value for money. I have three other friends who already dined here seperately and agree it's the best in london as far as they're concerned. We've also taken friends and family who all agree it's lovely. It's very modern and perfect for having a relaxed meal and a chat as it's never overrun with customers. We go so often we have noticed that one chef is better than the other but I would strongly recommend you try it for yourself!

The food is excellent, as is the service. Every dish was perfectly cooked with fresh herbs & spices. The decor is relexing and comfortable.

I moved in to the area recently and went to a party at my neighbours and asked about our local swanky Indian restaurant. There was a sort of awkward silence until everybody agreed that the meat is tough, tough, tough. And having been there now - I can concur. Boy is it tough. A view shared by reviewers below. Do they read this website? They really ought to. I would love to have a decent Indian restaurant in SE5 on my doorstep and this should be it. But the meat! Somebody needs to sit the chef down and teach him how to cook meat or they need to stop buying in shoe leather quality lamb. Honestly, they'd triple their clientele overnight.

We ordered a mixed starter which was cold and the vegetable samosa was undercooked. I agree with the person previously as I too was rather sceptical about the vast choice of food on the menu. My chicken shashlick was tough & I could hardly even cut the chicken. It was exactly the same as the chicken tikka in the mixed starter. As too was my husband's meatball kofta. The meatballs were basically the kebabs from the mixed starter rolled into meatballs - very unappertising. Probably the worst thing was the vegetable side dish which we ordered - chick pea & spinach. The chickpeas were hard, cold & severely undercooked.
