Cafe Rouge (Blackheath)

Having eaten at Café Rouge Blackheath for many years, I cannot remember being disappointed a single time. As mentioned by someone else, it's a chain but does not feel like it. Perhaps because it's a rather small place, very cosy, most certainly because of the service that's always friendly and attentive. It's not going to be quite the same once Caroline, the manager, has left, but there's no doubt it will still be one of the best places to eat at in Blackheath.

Okay so it's a Cafe Rouge, but this one is special. Don't know if it's a regular local clientelle, good management or what, but we always have a wonderful time. To be honest, it feels nothing like a chain restaurant most of the time, but a proper local eaterie, and a bit of a locals secret.
The welcome is always warm and friendly, the service is attentive but never obsequious or intrusive. The food is actually very good for a chain at this price level - certainly a clear cut above any other Cafe Rouge I've been to. They never let us down and even though we could comfortably afford the considerably more upmarket restaurants nearby, we just always seen to end up there...
I can think of few places I'd rather be on a Summer's afternoon than in the back garden of this lovely little restaurant.
