Cafe Rouge (Knightsbridge)

Simply HORRIBLE!

Ok if i'm being absolutely fair, the beef casserole and the terrine were pretty good. Not amazing, but good.

However the sirloin steak my friend ordered was simply a nightmare. It's like a piece of wood. So hard and tasteless. Ok, that's not exactly true. It's not tasteless, it's actually very very bitter because it's burned and overcooked on the outside. The steak had no juice, very dry... urrgghhh the worst steak I've ever tasted in my entire life. Even worse than the simple pan-fried steak I make at home. When we complained, instead of apologizing, the waitress argued that we asked for medium and not medium rare. OH MY GOD, as if that was an excuse for the steak to taste so bitter like ash! It doesn't matter if it's medium rare, or medium, or well done, you're not supposed to burn it!!

The waitress said she's talk to her manager. When we saw her talking to him, instead of doing anything, he just laughed as if she just told him the funniest joke ever.

When it comes to bill time, the same waitress came to our table with a card machine, accompanied by her collegue. As I was entering my pin code, they started talking in French and laughing. Suddenly I head the words bien cuit and a point said REPEATEDLY that even I with my basic French could catch it. Bien cuit and a point are typical french restaurant vocabulary. One means well done and the other means medium. I then lifted my face up to them and I guess they realized that I knew they were talking about me (it doesn't help that they were looking at me the whole time either), that they abruptly stopped laughing.

When I left no gratuity, simply because I had nothing to be grateful for, they kept staring at the bill plate from across the room.

When me and my friend left, no one said goodbye, or thanks, even though there we were only about 2 other customers in there.

WHAT A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I'm never coming back, and I really don't recommend it to anyone.
