I tried this restaurant when it first opened last year and again over the bank holiday weekend. The grilled items are good however the rest is pretty mediocre. The service was unhelpful and slow during the busy times and there is no ambience. We were seated upstairs where there are plain walls with no natural light and a couple of not very japanese paintings on the walls.

A bit expensive @ £30 per head.

Food is great, service is also very good, the waitress is very welcoming and chatty, a must have is the yakitori and the chicken wings, really good stuff.

I have eaten here three times in a group of 4, and enjoyed both occasions. A good range of Yakitori - although they were out of chicken meatballs every time. I recognised the grill guy from Jin Kichi in Hampstead - which means by my own knowledge he's been working those skewers for at least 7 years. The scallops were especialy good and the chicken liver converted one of my friends into a regular. Agedashi Tofu was worth reordering. The sushi was also of good quality. It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for and still reasonable value given the quality of the food. No problems with the service - which was friendly and helpful, such as when they provided low salt soy sauce on request.

Visited this restaurant after reading the reviews and was slightly dissappointed at the service received on friday. The restaurant was full and although we were seated promptly, no one came to ask us for a drink for 20 minutes. It took ages to order our food and found the grilled items slightly undercooked.

It was quite expensive as we ended up paying £62 for 2 rounds of drinks, and a two course meal.

I am not sure if this restaurant was having a bad day however it is not worth the money.

We were lucky to get a table on a Saturday lunch time. The food was fantastic and the menu and prices tempted us to try a number of dishes we hadn't had before. The staff were friendly and informative about the ways to try the food. We are already looking forward to our next visit here

As a local resident, and big fan of Japanese food, I have visited Tosa many times and am impressed with the quality of the food and friendly atmosphere. The counter cooking tasty teriyaki skewers and grilled fish is very authentic to that I have seen in Japan, and I enjoy having a mix of the hot and the cold sushi, with interesting dishes you will not find in a conveyor-belt option. A great addition to the area.

Stopped in here for lunch one weekday afternoon while looking for flats to rent in the area. I LOVE Japanese food, and I was very excited to see a restaurant in the area. I'm from New York City where we have plenty of both high- and low-end Japanese restaurants to choose from. I had the sushi lunch special, a small bottle of mineral water, and a glass of shochu - all for under £20. The sushi was average - not stellar, but quite edible - and consisted of the usual suspects (tuna, salmon, yellowtail, prawn, etc.) along with a small plate of pickles, a bowl of miso soup, and a salad. There was one hot sake on offer, and 2 cold ones - but it was the list of shochus available that surprised me, maybe 6 in total. The restaurant was small and unassuming, and the staff were helpful and polite. There were only a few other diners there, but it was close to closing time on a snowy day. I'll definitely be back once I move into the neighborhood to try more!
