your comments review this restaurant and win a bottle of champagne
Have had drinks in the downstairs bar a few times over the years, and finally got round to trying out the restaurant last Saturday for lunch.
We arrived at about 2.30pm and were shown into a pretty empty dinning room and given the menus. First impression was the room was very hot with no sign of air con and all the windows were shut.
We had a couple of Pimm's ordered our food and a bottle of Gavi di Gavi. Breads were fine as were our starters, however a Ceasar salad and a tomato and mozzarella salad are hard to get wrong. The wine was not very cold and we had to ask for an ice bucket. Next on to the mains, my friends fishcake with spinach was okay, again very simple. However my 6oz ribeye with 2 fried eggs was a without doubt the worst dish I have been served for a long time. Ordered rare it came well done with both eggs also cooked to death, I sent it back and after 5 minutes it was with replaced with one that although was no longer well done it was far from rare and the eggs were again overcooked.
We shared a cheesecake for dessert, which was okay but Im sure it was not made in house, just far too perfect looking.
Service was the only saving grace to the meal with the 3 different waiters who looked after us all appeared to know what they were doing and handled the returned steak very well.
At about £125 for 2 it was not good value for the standard of food on offer.

Finally got the chance to eat in the restaurant last night at Christopher's.
We started the evening off with cocktails in the Martini bar. Hard to choose from the extensive menu of both classic and modern cocktails but with the help of the bar team and the charming bar manager we enjoyed a few beautifully made and interesting drinks. This is not an over-the-top cocktail bar experience, more like a style bar within an expensive boutique hotel for lounging, talking and relaxing.
Escorted upstairs we given a table for two overlooking the theatre district of Coven Garden. The service style was slick but not over powering or intrusive in any way. The restaurant team work effortlessly to ensure you feel like the most important customer in the restaurant which is a rare treat for this area.
Our meal for two...
Starters ---- Seared Scallops & Grilled Asparagus
Mains ---- Rib-eye Steak & Roast Guinea Fowl.
Sides ---- String Fries, Spinach & Cauliflower Cheese
Wine ---- Knappstein Riesling £30
The food was unpretentious, beautifully cooked and well presented. We really enjoyed the un-hurried service style and were delighted with the "one-for-the-road" cocktail back downstairs before heading home.
Our experience was truly faultless, good value and memorable. I would recommend reserving the secluded corner of the bar for drinks with up to 7 friends as this would make for a really nice evening.
Total restaurant bill including service charge was a little over £117 for two.

8th Best Restaurant in London overall? ...Ha Ha..that's so funny..unlike the restaurant which is at very best a 3 or 4 out of 10 overall in anyone's book.
Funny how it NEVER appears in any good restaurant guides yet is in the top 10 always. Hmm...

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Christophers as part of a theatre outing combined with a meal. The staff at Christophers were accommodating to our needs and were very friendly and attentive. The food was beautifully presented and there was a wide choice on the pre-theatre menu. I loved the decor and the huge winding staircase leading up to the main dining room. I look forward to sampling their cuisine again in the near future.

Christopher's is one of the most consistently good restauants in the Covent Garden area. The food is delicious , carefully prepared and presented especially the first class steak , excellent well hung meat cooked really rare as requested. The service is charming but unobtrusive and we have enjoyed several happy evenings here.

I visited Christopher's for the first time recently for a celebratory brunch. The atmosphere was great, but the restaurant was not loud. Service was efficient and friendly without being overbearing. It is definitely somewhere I would go for somewhere special but unpretentious.
The standard of food was very high, and I was surprised at how good value the brunch menu was. They also did a fantastic 'breakfast martini'! We already have plans to go back.

My wife and I found the food to be both value for money and to be of a very high standard. We ate in the bar and had two of the most delicious steak sandwiches we have ever had! Cocktails at Christophers are also extremely impressive, with a comprehensive choice and no ridiculous prices. We liked Christophers so much we ate there at lunch and came back for drinks in the evening.

I had a really wonderful meal here. The eggs alaska were spectacular and the swordfish steak and buttermilk pancakes were very tasty indeed. All in all a great meal in a great location and the service was good too - highly recommended.

I found Christophers by searching on the web. I booked a table as it was my birthday weekend and I was taking my daughters away with me to see a show. Well we were so very impressed. From the moment we entered the restaurant we were greeted very courteously and professionally. The first impressions we had were surpassed by a beautiful meal and first class service. I can't see how anyone can fault it.
