This is my 1st vist to this restaurant and I have to say it will be my last.

I like steak but this place could put you off it. Its over priced and not very nice, there is a terrible smell of oil coming from what I guess is the kitchen.

I think who ever owns or runs this place lets it be taken on by someone who move on with time. The place is old and shabby.

Move over owner of Christophers, and let a place that deserves a place in theatre land move in.....

I've been to Christopher's on a number of occasions and haven't been disappointed. The service is excellent and it is always busy so best to book ahead. We went for brunch and the food was delicious and reasonably priced - amazing blueberry pancakes. Great, central location and lovely surroundings. Will definitely go again.

My visit to Christophers was a spontaneous decision but the memory is definitely a long lasting one. From the moment you enter the bulding you get all the attention you could wish for. Everything is very high standard but nonetheless you feel very much at home and the atmosphere at Christophers is very relaxed. It almost feels like having dinner at a close friend's place. I had a steak which was precisely cooked to my order and the sides were just a delight. Particularly good were the potato mash with that hint of mustard, the portobello mushrooms and the very tasty spinach. Delicious!

My son and I recently dined at Christopher's - The American Grill before attending at play. I selected this restaurant based on reviews from this site. The moment we walked in we were uncomfortable in the manner in which we were treated. The hostess acted like there were few tables available and they would try to fit us in after looking us "up and down". It turns out that there were only three other tables of diners in the entire restaurant, yet they took us all the way to the back and seated us next to the loo. Our service was poor and the food mediocre. We were totally neglected for over 30 minutes, and we barely made the play despite the fact that we arrived in plenty of time for an unhurried meal. As a first time visitor to London, this was the only restaurant where we we not treated with utmost courtesy. We were highly disappointed in our experience at Christopher's - The American Grill.

Excellent food and the service was great - very friendly and they pay attention to each and every customers needs. The bar is great with superb range of cocktails and a lovely setting. Thoroughly recommended.

My husband and I went to Christopher's for weekend brunch and it was excellent. The food is quite expensive, but really really good quality and there's a great view down to Waterloo Bridge and across the Thames. The healthy options were quite small portions, but actually pretty filling and so so tasty - the sort of things you would never have time or patience to prepare for yourself.

We also had smoothies and eggs benedict (him) and eggs florentine (me). There was a bit of a delay between courses, but the staff were very apologetic and actually it was good not to feel rushed at brunch. Loved the atmosphere and the food and the building and decor are beautiful too. It's a once in a while treat for us and we'll definitely be going again.

You should probably book as we were squeezed in and nearly didn't get a table.

My husband and I love this place. The food is amazing, the building/interior is stunning, and the waiters and service is excellent. It's very similar to the sort of upmarket restaurants you see in New York. We try to go at least three times a year!

How is this place so highly rated? There are a million better restaurants in London! The food here is average at best and very over-priced. The positive reviews are written in such a similar style and with similar ratings - do they think we're idiots?

Went to Christophers on a Saturday night and overall I would say it was a good experience and my party of four had a good night.

Service: 10/10 - The lady serving us was charming and there when you needed her and like all good waiters/esses she did not intrude.

Ambience: 8/10 - The restaurant was full which always helps but I would say it was very dark (I know that this seems to be the norm in the States so maybe it is deliberate) and consequently it was quite hard to read the menu. The atmosphere was relaxed and we all felt very comfortable.

Food & Drinks: 7/10 - The starters were excellent and very tasty. All but one of us had steaks mine (rump steak) was a bit chewy but another in the party had fillet steak and said it was one of the best he had ever had. None of us indulged in pudding but they did sound good. The wine was excellent.

Don't be fooled by the suspiciously enthusiastic reviews. The food here is average to fine - nothing special, the service is fine - if a little slow at times - but this is NOT one of London's finest or most popular restaurants by a long stretch.

A lot of tourists end up here thanks to lazy recommendations from hotel concierges. Enough said.
