Have been here sevreal times but have never bothered to write a review (shame on me) but after last week's lunch I feel compelled. Myself and my guest ate from the amazingly good value lunch menu and the food was stunning, and I mean stunning. I'm always amazed it isnt fuller, it should be.I can only guess it suffers from not having a 'celebrity chef'.

All I can say is, if you havent been, then try it !

Fine dining restaurant. Food was excellent even at top end restaurant standards. Waiting staff were attentive without being obtrusive. The service was right for the environment, not overly formal - which i do not like anyway.

Ambience is ok, but tables are close and it does not have the wow factor of many other restaurants in this price bracket.

I first ate at Patterson's with a Keynoir deal and found the whole experience very pleasant! The ambiance is simple and relaxed, the staff were friendly and the food was top quality. We were limited to a set menu but to be honest I would have made the same choices had we had access to the full menu.

We decided we would definitely go back, so I booked a table of 7 for my partner's birthday. When I booked I was told that there would be a cancellation charge but due to an unfortunate misunderstanding of accents and the fact that the Patterson's employee misspelled my e-mail address, I never received confirmation details.

36 hours prior to the event there was a family emergency and the dinner had to be cancelled. I called up and with deepest apologies tried to cancel my booking. I was told that the less than 48 hours prior to the booking, the cancellation charge is £10 per head.

I can certainly understand cancellations charges, especially for large parties, but I was shocked that the charge was anything more than for 24 hours! This is not a Michelin starred restaurant, it's simply a good dining spot in Mayfair - an area where there are plenty of other choices. I'm not happy that I had to pay a full £70 as a cancellation charge and certainly I have learned my lesson about accepting such agreements in the future. Do take care with Patterson's if you are planning any groups larger than 5 diners.

Had a very enjoyable lunch here last week; lots of delicious sounding things on the menu, which is well judged and creative enough without being bizarre.

Lovely family run restaurant tucked away but within easy walking of Oxford Street/Bond Street. Food was excellent, service good and the welcome warm. Quiet ambience yet busy, felt private enough despite the place being full, the different dishes were perfectly presented, decent range of choices and a wide wine list with nice house wines by the glass. Made for a relaxed evening and certainly one of our favorite places to go.

Just a quick review as we didn't actually get to eat here today though I have eaten there before. My lovely wife decided to pop up to the West End to have lunch with me without baby G. We fancied something special we thought we would give Patterson's a go. It was early so the chances of getting a walk in table were good. We wandered in to the quiet restaurant and were greeted by a nice young lady who said she would check what they had available. She had a look on there system and there was a table left that she needed back for 2PM which was fine for us. At this point the manageress zoomed up asking her in a quite abrupt manner what she was doing. She then informed her in a very rudely that the table was Mr so and so's who was sitting at the bar, making us look and feel like social undersirables. We asked if they had anything else, the unsmiling manageress said that the only other table they had they needed back at 1:30. I didn't really want to spend £80 on a rushed lunch so we left never to return. There are ways of handling this sort of situation properly and the attitude of the manageress at Pattersons was very poor indeed. We ended up going to Wright Brothers for a lovely lunch with impeccable service.

We went to Patterson three years ago for New Year's Eve dinner. We had the special 7 course dinner. The service was excellent and the food was beautiful.

I shall definitely try it again on a non special occasion.

I've been to Patterson's a few times before and never been disappointed so for this reason, I chose to go there for an anniversary dinner on Saturday night.

It's a comfortable space, not over-decorated and sufficiently intimate, in a quiet side street near Regent Street. The welcome was warm and our table was ready. Good range of aperitifs to accompany a look at an excellent menu and an incredible wine list.

I chose the haddock souffle with chive and white wine sauce following by filo and herb encrusted loin of lamb. My partner had pigeon followed by pork belly and sauerkraut rosti. A little amuse bouche of french onion soup arrived. The souffle arrived with a little bit of restaurant theatre as the top was pierced and the sauce poured in and over. The wines that I chose (a Macon-Fuisse followed by a Meinert Merlot) worked perfectly.

Sadly…and this is my only criticism…the portions are simply too large. Having struggled but eventually managed to finish my starter, I could barely finish my main. Neither of us were able to contemplate pudding, even though their pudding menu is, rather splendidly, arranged by wine, with a pudding recommendation to go with each.

Overall, this is a haven of unpretentious, well made food off a well thought out menu. Best of all, the staff are all friendly and charming. Good value for money too…just be sure to choose carefully so that you can manage to finish it all!

(Messrs Patterson - if you're reading this, you may be the only restaurant in town who is being criticised for portions that are too large. Sorry!)

Second visit, and a deterioration in the food quality and value were noted. Starters are an excessive £15.5 with the goats cheese roulades adequate and the haddock souffle quite good, especially on a cold evening. Of the mains (at £21) the sea bream was very poor, consisting mainly of a turgid and viscous black rice/parmesan stodge in which it was possible to stand a spoon, surrounding a quite microscopic piece of fish. Very poor fare indeed, and hopeless at this price. The fillet steak was cooking by numbers and satisfactory of its kind, but 'allumettes' chips (ie matchsticks) they were not. When I pointed out that they they were the precise opposite, ie fat doorsteps, I was told it was all they could do that night. So they agreed I was right but no apology was forthcoming. Perhaps a good idea to tell the customers when they order. Other mains are priced at £23 +Vat supplement. Puddings were bright and fine, at £10.50. Spacious room and attentive service. Advisable to eat here at a discount or on an expense account. Otherwise, better value is to be found elsewhere.
