Great local. Regularly eat here and never disappointed. Very friendly staff and great food and wine selection.

I live on the same street and it would seem reasonable to see this place as my local canteen. However, the staff is rude and the food is only average. Once more tonight, I wanted to order pizzas over the phone and I was quite rudely deterred to do so by an arrogant waiter. Believe me: if you want to spend money on pizza, drive a few miles towards warwick avenue and go to Red Pepper or even better try Sarraccino in west hampstead (and they even deliver!).

Having found our local Italian (very good) closed, we wandered up to Le Cochonnet. Despite being local, we hadn't eaten there for some years, but expected average to good food. TG had a calzone, which he didn't like at all even though he is a pizza-lover. It was covered by a slightly hot sauce which he didn't order, and there was half-raw pepperoni inside. TL had a mushroom pizza, which was not worth the money. Large, thin-crust (which we all prefer), there was only a tomato sauce and a scattering of mushrooms. I had only a starter, the Salad Nicoise, which was the worst I'd ever had put down in front of me. A small tin of tuna had been emptied onto a few iceberg lettuce shreds; one or two cold potatoes halved; an egg; a couple of green beans and tomatoes - and, worst of all, it had no dressing. I had to ask for dressing and got one that didn't go with the Nicoise at all.
The only food worth eating was the bread and olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
We won't be returning to see if the Seafood Linguine lives up to other recommendations! However, the service was good; it's a pity the pleasant surroundings belie the quality of the food.

Doesn't look like the sort of place I'd go on the inside, there is a feel of an American diner atmosphere which, to me, doesn't radiate good food. However, thanks to the reviews below I decided to go against my judgement. All I can say is that I agree with all the positive comments.
Seafood linguini is excellent. Pizzas are extremely good.
Service, although a tiny bit slow is extremely friendly and welcoming. I don't like the decor, but the atmosphere is very very good.
I feel the Red Pepper down the road is excellent, but this place just pips it to the post due to the fact that you are less crammed when eating.
My contentious comment for the day "the 2 best Italian's in London are both in the Maida vale area".

Agree with all of the comments here- a great place, went there with my best mate who lives locally, I would move just for their seafood linguini- a triumph. Mitch and the rest of the guys out front really make the whole thing work so perfectly as well.
Fantastic, would make a south london buy move north of the river!
