TimeOut

TimeOut - 4/6

Wednesday, March 11, 2009 - Smart, black-shirted waiters were affable and upbeat, and the dishes they carried steaming through the swing door of the rear kitchen were good enough to silence conversations that the decor had inspired in customers. A starter of smoky kashk-e bademjan (a creamy aubergine, garlic and whey dip) was the best we’ve tasted in London, pleasingly pungent and authentically topped with crispy fried onions; another of mast-o mousir (zingy shallot yoghurt) was perhaps overly puréed, but delicious when mopped up with soft, sesame seed-scattered bread hot from the clay oven.

I'm a regular at zeytoon. The best thing about this place is the food. It is simply the best persian food you will eat, EVER.

the food is very well priced also, you can easily eat a massive meal at £10-£15 a head.

the portions are enormous and the place has a real family feel to it.

They could do so much more with the place though, and i dont think they realise what a great business they have. They dont advertise anywhere and have really risen through reputation. They should really approach the social media route to get zeytoon out there!

I eat out a lot and experiment a lot too- but i must say this is one of the tastiest eats you will get in london by a clear mile.

My Husband and I spotted Zeytoon restaurant from our car one Sunday afternoon when we were driving through the area. The exterior caught our eye, as it is beautifully decorated with dark wood, and there were several tables and chairs - at which a couple were smoking a shisha pipe. We decided that we would stop the car and check out the menu. The menu contains a wide varity of Iranian, and Afghani dishes - ranging from dishes such as kebab koobideh to houmous to Qabli pilau to chelow khoresht -e-qeimah.

On entering the restaurant, we were very pleased with not only the presentation and cleanliness, but also of the beautiful traditional decoration. The furniture comprises natural and heavy dark wooden tables and chairs. The walls feature Iranian murals, as well as traditional textiles and other artefacts. There are 2 large rooms -one of which features a bread oven (which is always in use, and is interesting to watch).

Our food was absolutely delicious - and was of the right quantity to fill us up without letting any go to waste, or having to take any home. We are used to eating Persian food - it is one of our most favourite cuisines, and we have been extremely impressed with the quality of food here each time we have visited. We have visited Zeytoon 3 times so far.

The service, whilst always polite and friendly, could benefit from being a little faster, and at times, the waiters could do with paying more attention to noticing when customers are ready to pay the bill, order another drink etc.

Zeytoon is now our favourite Persian restaurant - and we intend to pay another visit shortly!
