Iroko Bar

The fact that Iroko has gone bust is a real shame but no surprise whatsoever, it was only a matter of time. The decor was lovely but the quality of the food and service was poor. On the two occasions I went there my friends and I waited over an hour for our food. The first time I went there I ordered a Pina Colada cocktail which was in fact Pineapple and Coconut juice (BIG DIFFERENCE) I don't know who the owners were but guys if you are thinking of opening up a similar venture in future I ask you to get the basics right email me for more info. I am not Gordon Ramsey but I watch enough Kitchen Nightmares to know all the tricks of the trade.

Great location on Brixton Hill away from the busy part of Brixton, without a doubt the best European and African food I have tasted and the service was very friendly and efficient. I had the Lamb and Veg meal while my partner had Fish and Plantain, everyone really enjoyed their meal. The sizes are proportionate and not too small, but overall very good value. The cocktails (which we had a lot of) were simply wonderful. What more could you ask for? I highly recommend, great food , great service ,friendly staff , good prices. Dont take my word for it go and find out for yourself, if you reside in SW and have not been, you dont know what your missing. A bit surprise at some comments may be not what they are looking for, as for me and my partner, it was a Great experience without fault, definitley will not be the last!, 10 out of 10 for me! All to their own I guess ! !

Firstly arrived at the venue with no greeting and was placed with 2 table each with 3 seats, despite i asked for a table of 6. Then had to put the two table together myself with my guests. Ordered starters that took 25/30mins to come. by the time that came the starters was cold. Everyones food came slowly but was quoted 10/15mins. two of guest main meal came without the rice and when the rice came it was when almost when we all that finished are meals. i asked waiter to take back the rice but he refused and was very rude about the removal of the rice despite it came 30mins after everyone finally got thier meals. Was not asked if we even wanted more drinks and were made to feel unwelcomed. And to top it off the card machine was not working and we were not warned from the start and made us feel as through the card was decline due to no funds. when they discovered it was not work the waiter said it's not his fault and nothing he can do. To sum up the night the venue was under staffed and POOR service and the quality of the food was not worth the pricelist. The manager was aware of the unplesant service and his comment was ' he blames it on the fact he was unstaffed'..... there was only one waiter working that night. This is the worse restaurant i have been to and i was ashamed to take my guest there for my birthday. That will be my first and last time going to IROKO!!!!

Firstly, iROKO Bar and Grill there premise is not just a restaurant, it is also a bar and Night club, the layout design and concept of this venue is like no where I have ever been or seen, the service and atmosphere drives through a sense of belonging especially to the afro-multicultural society, the works or art and diverse origin within there staffs makes a change, some of the complaints or opinions of a few disparate few, re-enforces the common ills of a disparate afro culture, weak support and never together, yet in London they have but a few places of which the can call there own. For the majority there menu and taste of the food is great. I would suggest constructive critism by direct contact to the bar…instead of destroying hard business models and reputations.

Most Beautifull Venue in Lambeth
Likes it - First Impression on entering the venue, what drives thru is a mild calm of alluring ambience, a natural taj mahal, you automatically feel at peace, the art decor is of African and far east origin, the staffs cut across the colours of london, the menu is mouth watering, the service i fell in love with, this business model i ve decided will be attributed to my ideal business vision. keep it up, Iroko a Great name, one that represents audacity.

the place is lovely inside and outside, went up stairs sit down at table. checking the menu it nice, young guy served us, it was shame that food run out, order again food run out, order again food run out on the menu, i wanted to laugh or complain, the cook should of at least told the staff the food out of stock on the menu, saved him from walkin up and down those stairs, and wasting our time too, felt sorry for the young guy he must of felt uncomfortable, didnt understand what i was saying. Finally got to order our food. The food was really spicy, heavy, the sauce in the meat too heavy, the rice hot like pepper but nice the salad could be more creative see more salad, plaintains nice lovely. The drinks are limited i believes.
Lastly the music they played MJ at the time, made my day. The view from looking outside is pleasant, i would come back again and again not on a busy day, which i have never tried.

I - like so many other folk was initially so impressed with the decor; but.. yes this is a recurring theme, the service was apalling. My wine glass had a bright red lipstick mark on it when it arrived, I had my starter at the same time as my wife had her main course, her starter apparently got lost in the ether, after waiting over an hour!!!!! The food was good , nothing special very very tasty, but what it is with you guys?, get and train decent staff, why are you shooting yourself in the foot like this? There is no other restaurant around the area to compare in internal surroundings, a great menu, the bar and the music are great, but you cannot run a restaurant to save your lives!!!!, and I am afraid your bank balance will reflect that; and the saddes tthing is that it is all of your own doing!
