I have eaten here twice and both times have had an enjoyable experience. The first time I came July 2008, the only beef I had with the place was that we were placed at a table right next to the door so there were lots of people coming and going past our table, our spring rolls that we ordered never came and the bill was in Chinese! But the service was good, the waitress explained dishes for us and the food (apart from sprig rolls arrived) arrived in good time.

The food itself is really nice and the rice and noodles come in massive portions, so we were able to share them. The atmosphere is cosy with red decor and the tables arent too close together.

I would recommend this restaurant, but I have noticed how very busy it can get on some evenings, so beware.

Walking around in the chinatown area and always find there are some restaurants are more popular than others. Feng Shui Inn was certainly a very popular restaurant. Some of the comments posted here obviously has mix experience. I notice in both ocassion were on saturday, I think saturday evening is always a no-go for ANY restaurant, especially in chinatown, unless you are prepared to be treated like those experienced.

Any way I have decided to go on a Friday instead and experience for myself. Yes, thats right, I am keen to find out why is it so popular. So, in we go with four people and ordered some of its speciality. I liked the lamb and bitter lemon with chilli and black bean sauce. I find it quite salty but the other three said it was ok. The rice and sweet and sour was hot but not the best I ever tasted (China Tang in Dorchester are better). Overall I would say above average.

And Yes, I would recommed this restaurant as its better than most on the same street.

Got recommended to Feng Shui Inn in london chinatown from a colleague recently been to London on business. He love chinese food and goes to chinatown every evening and he had tried a few restuarants in chinatown. He was impressed by the service and food that Feng Shui Inn has come up. Its food ls less greasy and hot compared to those with hanging duck outside (properly stone cold by the time it lands on my table.) Anyway, we specially liked the crispy aromatic duck and spicy king crab on crispy noodles. Lovely...;-)

Last night (Sat 27 Sept 2008) we ate at Feng Shui Inn for the first time. We saw the add on Chinese Channel and also after reading the positive reviews on this website, so we thought it would be an ideal place to take our friends visiting us from abroad. We booked a table for 6pm on the same afternoon. We arrived 15mins earlier and was escorted to our table. Our visitors did not arrive till 6.30pm as they went on the London Bus sightseeing and was delayed by the journey. Our boys was hungry so we decided to order a chicken dish for them first. The supervisor came to tell us that usually they do not accept booking on weekends cos' they are usually busy and then asked what time will our friends arrive and suggested to us to place our order first. We told her our friends are on their way and will be arriving in 15mins time and we can't place the order yet cos' we do not know what they like to eat and the chicken dish we ordered was for our children as they are quite hungry. We got the impression that she was trying to tell us that we are taking up their space and we find it quite offending and rude to be telling their customers this. If they do not accept bookings on weekends, why did they take our booking in the first place?

Finally, our friends arrived and we orderd more food. By that time, the restaurant was getting busier and the level of service was dropping. All our dishes arrived but the most important item that is white rice was not served though we have reminded the waitress several times. We also asked for 5 sets of spoon and fork but they only brought 1 set. The crispy duck pancake dish was a dissapointment, it was dry and overcooked. We were seated below the air-cond unit. Initially we have told them to switch it off but later they turn it back on, as a result our food turned cold very quickly.

Our overall rating for the food and service for this restaurant is poor. We will not recommend anybody and will not visit there again. For the price we paid for our dinner £112+ we could have a more satisfying meal and better service elsewhere.

My husband & I just discovered this little gem in Chinatown. It has a really good location and the prices are very reasonable. The food is always cooked properly and the taste.....exquisite! The staff tries to be helpful, is willing to make suggestions and they are willing to explain the dishes to you if you have any questions. We heartily give this restaurant 5 stars and recommend it on your visit!

Came here on Friday with 6 friends. The waiter was very friendly and suggested the set menu. Good food, good value can't go wrong. - he was right! We also order some extra starters to go with it. My favourite Soft shell crab was excellent. A good size, not greasy with a nice salty and spicy finish. The other starters ordered were just as good. Mains were excellent. I have a rice dish that was half chicken and tomato and half king prawns & cream. Different and very tasty. The Emperor chicken on the bone was equally good. Very enjoyable evening. A very different decor and feel very oriental.

I read some of the reviews in this site and picked this restaurant from random of my short list. Now, having been there with my family and wasn't disappointed. We ordered sweet and sour king prawns and tested the crispy duck and was surprised that these two must have dishes was cooked to perfection...The prawns was very fresh and wasn't soggy and the succulent aromatic duck was very tasty, probably the best in chinatown in my opinion. The service was over when it is off-peak. Definitely recommend to those who love original chinese food and the duck. Another good value choice is to order half roast duck portion...delicious. We had a great time and the service was better when the restaurant got busier unless you liked to be treated as royal...;-)

We visited Feng Shui Inn after reading the reviews, but wish we hadn't. Maybe it was because it was very early (5:30pm) but all the waiting staff were stood watching our every move, which was very unnerving.

The food was nothing to write home about either and in fact the noodles & beansprouts tasted of soap!

We will not be going back in a hurry!

This is the best restaurant in Chinatown - I'm a regular diner there, and have given up going to the others. The stewed pork belly is awesome, and they also do nice beef and eel. It's got a big capacity, and can accommodate large groups. They also do a wide range of fresh fruit juices, with some pretty exotic flavours. Service is efficient, decor and atmosphere are fine but nothing special. But you can't beat this place for value-for-money in central London.
