The London Paper

TheLondonPaper

Wednesday, September 02, 2009 - The interior is all exposed brick, cosy wooden tables and quirky stuffed animals, while the head chef was poached from Guy Ritchie's Punch Bowl in Mayfair and clearly knows what the punters like...we had no quibbles with a velvety Dexter beef carpaccio with horseradish dressing. Welsh lamb rack was less tempting on the eye with its pretentious presentation, but the cutlets were delicious...It may not be destination dining, but if I were a local I'd embrace The Cadogan with gusto.

TimeOut

Guy Dimond - 5/5

Friday, July 24, 2009 - Having eaten in a few Martin Bros places, I'm seeing a pattern. Seamless cooking, great attention to detail, exquisite presentation...Although a gastropub, this is still a boozer with a bar built for drinking, a few real ales and a commendable selection of wines by the glass. And if bending your elbow with a pint isn't exercise enough, there's a billiards room on the first floor...Our French waitress was as charming as could be. If only all neighbourhood gastropubs were this good.

I recently hired the upstairs Billiards Room of the Cadogan Arms for a private event to celebrate my 30th birthday. The event started with c. 15 of my friends for the party menu lunch at about 2pm, then grew to about 60 or so in size as people turned up to watch live Six Nations rugby on a TV that the Cadogan had arranged the hire for at my request.

The entire day and evening was just perfect for what I wanted - I cannot rave about it enough. The food from the party menu was simply delicious - everything both looked wonderful and tasted scrummy (and last minute changes from pre-ordering were accommodated with no fuss as well).

The organisation in advance of the day with Nadia was superb, the staff on the day were excellent (particularly Jessica who looked after us amazingly well all day!), the service was very efficient and it all ran very easily and smoothly, with no hassle for me at all throughout the day, resulting in a most enjoyable birthday!

Perfect. Thank you Cadogan!

Went there on Saturday night, and despite the service being a bit slow, we thouroughly enjoyed ourselves. I had the pheasant, which was absolutely divine, and my wife had the beef which was near perfect. We had a bottle of Sauv Blanc which was lovely too. They didn't charge us for the substantial cheeseboard, because our mains had been a little late, and we went back to our mates in the pub section with smiles on our faces.

I recently organised my team's Christmas Party at the Cadogan Arms and have nothing but praise for the team both when bookiing and also on the day. The food was delicious, no mistakes were made in the orders despite us chaniging the carefully arranged seating plan! The service was excellent and for those of us who wanted to stay into the evening the staff were able to transfer us to another table without any fuss.

I have only great things to say about the team @ The Cadogan Arms. I recently hosted a holiday party for 300 at The Cadogan Arms and it was a great experience from start to finish. The events staff were more than accommodating in terms of showing us the venue, having us in to taste canapes and choose from wines. They had everything set up exactly how we requested on the day of the event and we did not run into a single problem. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, the bar looked great and everyone had a wonderful time. We will absolutely be looking to have our 2012 holiday party here, as well - everyone absolutely loved!

A really excellent find! I arranged a small reserved area at this establishment for a much overdue University Reunion prior to Christmas. Lauren from the Team could not have been more helpful, and we all really enjoyed the atmosphere, and the marvellous food on offer. The staff too were extremely helpful and friendly.

An excellent gastropub, in a lovely part of town- thoroughly recommended!

My company held our holiday party at the Cadogan Arms last week and I could not have been more impressed by the level of service and friendliness of the staff. About 200 of us turned up after a long, tough day at work - hungry, thirsty and wanting to relax in a no-stress environment. The staff catered to our every need - we didn't even have to check our own coats! Staff walked around the room, collected coats, remembered everyone's faces and returned with a check ticket for each attendee. The bartenders were quick, friendly and worked hard to ensure we had a good time. Just one example: the event organizers had ordered several bottles of prosecco to be poured for guests as they arrived. I showed up a bit late, just as the supply was running out. One of the bartenders tracked down the last glass, found me in the crowd and brought it over. I can't remember the last time service in a London pub or restaurant made me smile - the Cadogan is a real gem :)

A big thank you to Nadia for her assistance/advice and to the team at the Cadogan Arms for ensuring a wonderful birthday lunch for me and my friends. The food was delicious and the atmosphere and service were fantastic. A special note of thanks to Matt and Adam for their warm welcome for taking very good care of a large, loud and possibly demanding party!

I will return regularly as I am sure will all in attendance. The Cadogan Arms is an ideal place for a celebratory function for a medium to large group. Enjoy!

We had our wedding celebration at The Cadogan Arms on Sunday 3 July - everything was perfect!

Nadia helped us out with the menus beforehand, being very patient with all our questions and amends and requests! The staff at the pub were so friendly and professional - they worked really hard all afternoon, and we were so grateful.

Everyone had the right food, it was all gorgeous and hot and came out all at the right times - just enough gaps between courses to allow room for the next one. Everyone thought the food was amazing; the beef got a special mention for being really delicious.

We booked the Cadogan Arms as the venue for an intimate wedding lunch (60 people) in June. We corresponded with Nadia a number of times leading up to the event, definitely testing her patience. Throughout the whole experience, Nadia acted with utmost professionalism. On the day, Nadia had arranged the table plan and place cards and the tables were well dressed. The friendliness and efficiency of Eddie and his team during the day was outstanding, we couldn't have asked for a more memorable day! Thanks again!

Gourmet Chick

Gourmet Chick - 7/10

Wednesday, June 09, 2010 - The fish and chips features fish coated with a light and pungent batter made from ale and comes complete with crunchy chips and mushy peas. A side of peas and pearl barley is enlivened in the best possible way with slithers of bacon. The best dish though is from the specials board, the whole roasted baby chicken is tender and juicy. Nestled on fluffy roast potatoes it is smothered in a rich reduction flavoured with thyme. It's nigh on perfect and encapsulates why this rebooted gastro pub hits the jugular.

Cheese and Biscuits

Cheese and Biscuits - 2/10

Friday, April 02, 2010 - A starter of steak tartare may have used pretty good fillet steak, only thanks to the sheer amount of mustard they'd put in you couldn't tell. My main course was a whole baked mackerel. The best thing you could say about this dish was the flesh wasn't overcooked. The worst thing you could say was that it was a leather-bound, underseasoned chore, surrounded by three weird stone-cold barrels of aubergine-wrapped tomato thing, and some cold slimy mushrooms. A companions 'bubble and squeak' was also stone cold, with a shockingly bitter hollandaise and accompanied by an overwhelming reek of cheap truffle oil.

London Eater

London Eater

Friday, September 04, 2009 - If a dish ever fit in with the surrounding area, this was it: it screamed Fish n Chips, Chelsea Style. Two pots of sauce were served on the side and the waiter also provided me another with ketchup. The tartare was mild; the mushy peas were sugary, as smooth as warm butter and it was more of a puree than a mushy mash. The chips were a little hit and miss but the fish was astoundingly good, the batter in particular, was brilliant. It was so light, the crunch fluttered and fizzed, carrying with it hints of fruity fragrance, most probably due to the ale. The fish was only slightly undercooked, still juicy and ever so silky.
