This is NOT Thai food. This is sticky sweet, all-taste-the-same, dumbed-down pseudo "Oriental" grub that is ample and cheap. Real Thai food is a subtle balance of salty (fish sauce), sharp (lime), spicy (chiles) and sweet (tamarind). This rough grub forsakes the first three flavors. It over-relies on cheap non-Thai ingredients -- like the yellow onions that dominated all three of the indistinguishable stir fries we tried. The staff is Thai but -- a first in my experience -- they were abrupt and ungracious. One grudgingly replaced a "clean" plate that had rice stuck to it. Go elsewhere.

I love it - have been frequenting this pub for over 5 years and love the food, love the atmosphere ( even if they can be a little bossy) it just ads to the charm!
The only problem with the pub is that it can sometimes get overcrowded and busy!

Oh come on, what's with the negative reviews. What do you expect when you are paying £6 for a very tasty meal ???
I've been going to Churchill Arms on and off for over 5 years and I have never encountered bad service. The service is fine, the staff are professional and courteous, they serve you your food and pass you the bill. If you want Michelin Service go to the Ritz and pay over the odds for a bit of meat.
I hadn't been in over a year and I went there yesterday (Bank Holiday Sunday) with two friends. It was nice to get out of the rain. They were both impressed and so was I.
My only one very minor gripe is that the protions looked a tad smaller than I usually have. I often get the chicken with cashew nuts but there did not appear to be many cashews. Maybe it was me but I can't grumble, the food was hot, fresh and nice and CHEAP.
This restaurant comes highly recommended

I have posted a review here before and I am now posting to defend the Churchill in regard to many negative views that have been published about the staff. True, they are brisk, busy and have not got time to pander to the wishes of those who think they may be in an establishment where pomp and ceremony and michelin stars abound..... It is a pub, a plain and simple pub with a restaurant. You get a table, you eat, you leave. But in doing so you will have excellent food, excellent drinks (in the bar afterwards....) and since 1996 i have not had one bad experience there. I always have a quick chat with the staff and with Gerry and I find it a pleasure to come back time and time again. It is especially amusing when at the busiest times some people are ticked off for overstaying their welcome at the table or for wanting to sit down when not all their party have arrived. Get over it people, in the Churchill all are equal!!
In 11 years the prices have gone up by £1 on the dishes. The quality is still the same!

Cheap good food but probably the worst service I've ever experienced. There's also no time to savour the atmosphere, as your time at the table is limited.

I live in Notting Hill and often go to this place. True, the service is bl**dy awful but the food is cheap, filling and the decor pleasant. If you are feeling poor, combine it with a trip to the Coronet cinema on Tuesday, where all tickets are half price for the latest releases.

We have been eating at this little gem for over 7 years now and still thoroughly enjoy it. It's a no frills, no fuss, no starter restaurant which is always packed! Always buzzing with people enjoying themselves. It's the best Thai food I've had in London and the portions are huge! The price has not even gone up £1 in all that time!! Fantastic!

This place is fine for "English-Thai" food, i.e the food has been modified so much for English tastes that it is a bit bland and unremarkable. I don't think the green curry has ever seen a chilli. The ambience is quite pleasant, in a conservatory-like atmosphere with lots of plants etc. and it is a good place to bring friends for a cheap, quick meal. As long as you don't mind "English-Thai" food...

Churchills is one of londons little hidden treasures. It is full 7 nights a week and getting a table can be tricky. The restaurant is a garden of eden with hanging baskets, framed butterflies and a little water feature. The food is outstanding, massive and £6. Ive been to Thailand twice and this place is very authentic. I eat here 2 or 3 nights a week. The service can be funny(although they are outstanding to me) but these Thai people are very very busy. Ignore it..
