This place is fine for "English-Thai" food, i.e the food has been modified so much for English tastes that it is a bit bland and unremarkable. I don't think the green curry has ever seen a chilli. The ambience is quite pleasant, in a conservatory-like atmosphere with lots of plants etc. and it is a good place to bring friends for a cheap, quick meal. As long as you don't mind "English-Thai" food...

Hello,

I'm from Spain, spending a week end in London.I've been there yesterday, for lunch. It has been really wonderfull, the food (the best), the people (so nice), the decoration,etc....

Congratulations!!!!!!

I will come back if i go to London again. Why don't you open a restaurant in Madrid?

Churchills is one of londons little hidden treasures. It is full 7 nights a week and getting a table can be tricky. The restaurant is a garden of eden with hanging baskets, framed butterflies and a little water feature. The food is outstanding, massive and £6. Ive been to Thailand twice and this place is very authentic. I eat here 2 or 3 nights a week. The service can be funny(although they are outstanding to me) but these Thai people are very very busy. Ignore it..

Excellent food, you get one hour to eat and the service can be a bit rough. If you are looking to sit and chat then walk to the attached pub and have a pint, they won't chase you away. Definitely recommended.

The food is amazing, in huge quantities and only 5 pounds per dish. The restaurant is small but the surrounding is beatiful and cosy; I particularly love the collection of butterflies on the walls. It is inside one of the most beatiful pubs in London. The only thing that I don't like is that you are always rushed through your food by the waiters, but this is only because of the volume of people that go through the restaurant in a day as it has become a popular touristic attraction. Would definitely recommend it but be aware that you may only have about 1 hour to order and eat. Don't worry though...you can always move to the amazing pub afterwards.

To all of you who left negative reviews on this restaurant - I suggest you stay at home and do not go out to socialise with other people!!!

I'm known as a bit of a hussy fussy among my friends, so I think one of them suggested this place just to see my reaction. I've read the reviews beforehand, and got ready for the 'being put down', 'finger drumming', ‘shown my place’ etc. And if am totally honest – I was looking forward to it, as I love putting stuff into their place!!!

Was I in for a shock or what?!

First - no one puts you down there (unless you already feel like a low life, which is your problem to be honest). Service was nice, polite and very efficient. And the fact that you are asked (kindly) if you mind moving to the bar once your hour slot is up - well HELLO, were you not told when you were booking that you will ONLY have 1 hour slot?!!!

Food was very good, atmosphere fantastic and I will be definitely coming back.

And all of you - oversensitive babies - just stay at home and get a take away!

I work very close to the Churchill Arms and thought it would become my regular. But after getting a taste of the notorious bad attitude from staff, I have crossed it off my list. Being told to wait for a colleague before being shown to a table is one thing. But how one is told is another, especially when the restaurant in question was virtually empty at the time. The word arrogance, comes to mind when thinking about Churchill. Their 'just eat and leave' attitude, in their quest to cater to as many heads as possible, does not make for good dining.

I have been to the Churchill Arms for Thai food a few times. The reason I had gone a to the restaurant a few times was that they had passable food at good prices, for London). The service though has been consistently bad.

My last visit there, the service was expecially bad, and I will not be returning there. Treatment included being talked down to, delay in getting food, bad attitude and being asked to leave in the middle of the meal.

I guess the restaurant owners are thriving on Tourist traffic and do not expect repeat business, hence the poor service.

Unless one is on a very tight budget and craves average Thai food, I would not recommend this restaurant.

I have to say that I read all these reviews prior to going to the Churchill, and thought that the reports of rudeness must just be a one off. However, after going there last week and being subjected to much rudeness, finger drumming and being effectively kicked out without finishing our drinks, I have to agree with them. This place serves fairly good thai, cheaply, but if you want a relaxing meal and the chance to actually have a conversation with your frinds, don't even think about going here.
