The decoration make we feel so cozy, we start with hot towel and free prawn cracker. The waiter/waitress was really helpful. I love the grilled pork and Hanoi fish. banana blossom salad was so tasty.

Great evening - only truly authentic Vietnamese cuisine - not quasi chinese as so many others are. Apparently they use only fresh ingredients and it shows. Friendly, efficient service and very reasonably priced for food and drink of this quality.

I love Que Viet. I have tried a few Vietnamese restaurants in Shoreditch but after I discovered this restaurant I never went to any other. The food tastes amazing, the staff are very courteous and friendly, and the ambience is great. It's good value for money too.

we thought we'd check this out as it was included in a list of the top 50 cool restaurants to go to (even though our presence alone was likely to drop it's chart position down at least 20 notches).
There was nothing cool about the waiting staff here. They had the collective air of Basil Fawlty. The appearance of the man who seemed to be the manager just seemed to explain why this was, as he exuded chaos. After having to chase up my initial drinks order I then had to chase up our starter which then arrived about two minutes before the main course arrived.
Well, half of our main course, because I then had to chase up my wife's main. That was only possible after the man on the table next to us grabbed a waiter for us. They then got the bill wrong at the end. As we were paying the bill the manager manged to knock into one of the waitresses, sending drinks everywhere.
This place is about as cool as a middle-aged man wearing a Trilby
As for the food it's pretty good but for Vietnamese we normally go to Cay Tre near Old Street which has food at least as good and waiting staff who seem to know what they are doing.

Food o.k. Had better. Rude service, and waiter can't speak English...so we got frustrated...and left.

We went in here as it looked inexpensive and there was enough choice for my friend who is vegan to eat there happily. The food was mostly delicious - we had a vegetarian platter to start which had a very strange roll with salad and mint inside, which wasn't quite to either of our tastes - but the mains were delicious, and the plates had some sort of flammable stuff on them which meant that they were still bubbling when they came out - slightly gimmicky but it did mean they were still really hot when they got to us!
Service was not great, although not quite as bad when we went as on one of the previous reviews, but the tastiness of the food and the good value made up for that as far as I was concerned - our bill would have been 15 quid each or so if we hadn't indulged in a few glasses of sake!

I have now been to this restaurant about 5 or 6 times and each time I have had something different. The food is excellent and combined with the price, service and decor you can not ask for much more. Having not been to a Vietnamese restaurant before I moved to London I would probably say that it is now one of my favourite styles of food. Since visiting this restaurant for the first time I have also not had any call to go to any of their competitors although from previous visits prior to the discovery of this place, Que Viet definately tops the list. For the food, atmosphere and service and the price it comes at (just under £20 a head for a very good feed and drink) i can not give this anything else but 5 stars. Tip - if you don't know what to have or are trying Vietnamese for the first time just ask the staff for their recommendations as they will not advise you of what they are trying to get rid of in the kitchen but will give honest guidance.

Very good fish dishes in large quantity, with lots of fresh herbs (dill) and flavor. The prawn and pork dishes were gloopy and over-salted. Inexpensive.
Absolutely awful service, even by London standards, with the staff bumping into customers, hard-selling certain dishes (out of the others?), mis-timing the starters, and vanishing when the customer actually needs something. Que Viet is one of those restaurants with a thousand servers bustling around, doing nothing.
