TimeOut - 4/5

Wednesday, August 12, 2009 - This cosy Covent Garden restaurant, decorated simply with colourful rice paper lanterns and calligraphy scrolls, is classier than most neighbouring Korean cafes...The sizzling stone bowl dish called tolsot bibimbap had us swooning. The sculpted round of red bean rice, showcasing six varieties of marinated vegetables surrounding a glossy egg yolk nuzzled in a mound of flavourful sauteed ground beef was gorgeous. Another surprise was the scoop of flying fish roe flanking our egg yolk. Eagerly, we stirred it up with the accompanying bright red chili sauce and scraped our bowls clean.

My friend and I went there last night after read through a lot of nice reviews. The restaurant was easily to find in the centre of west end area. Walk in the restaurant, the deco was tidy and the dim light lantern were kind of romantic. We were welcomed by a petite, polite and pretty korean waitress. We scanned through the menu, quite satisfied on the variety choices of Korean foods and the prices are quite reasonable. We ordered starter for Pan Jeon ( sea food pancake), kim chi jii gae ( fermented season cabbage pork tofu soup) it comes with a bowl of rice. Bul Go Gi (BBQ beef), chicken BBQ, and Yook gae jang ( beef spicy soup). We were quite pleased that to be served with good foods in decent portion and we've ordered jasmine tea which allowed to refill the hot water.

Although the overall prices come on top with 12% service change, but we think it was worth it. We even tip another fiver for the waitress.

I will revisit pretty soon.

Went on Sat Oct 9 with my friend , he restaurant was busy and had a nice atmosphere . Knowing little or nothing about Korean food we asked the lady who served us for advice , she was really helpful and we turned it into a meal for 2 sharing both starters and main courses . The starters were a seafood omlet and pork nad veg dumplings both of which came wiht dipping sauces , t e main course was a chicken noodle dish and beef with a dip which was rolled up in lettace leaves . It was great fun and very tasty , we both enjoyed it and I would certainly go again .

Good portions, delightful food at the right temperature, in a sound setting.

Service with a smile and Fair value.

One extra floor staff would probably be a good thing.

I love Naru restaurant keep going back. The staff are friendly and very helpful in explaining unfamiliar items on the menu (and warning about which dishes are very spicy).

The food is great and portions are large. Pork dumplings and the slow cooked pork and vegetables with spicy sauce (eaten wrapped in lettuce leaves) were delicious. I particularly loved the Crunch Chicken with Surprising Sauce - I'm definitely having that agian next time!

Fantastic food and excellent value.

Naru is close to cultural hot spots: the British museum and the theatre ‘Hairspray’, located in the end of Shaftesbury Avenue.

They are specializing in Healthy and Well-Being Food/ No MSG and No Chemical condiments. Plus all foods are made by a professional Korean chef.

All dishes looked amazing and tasted so fresh, of course they were so tasty.

Naru is a top choice. The meals are well prepared and always beautifully presented.

World Foodie Guide - 7.5/10

Monday, September 07, 2009 - The menu featured some dishes that I've not seen in other restaurants, such as Dae Ha Twi Kim - tiger prawns wrapped in Korean soft noodles with citrus yogurt sauce and Ke Jang Bap - marinated baby crab in rice with tobiko. The dishes also appeared to be a little more expensive, but as I was to learn, the portions are quite substantial and the lettuce and seasoned soybean sauce were included. And kimchi and namul (the little servings of seasoned vegetables) are never free in London...
