Went on a quiet Sunday night. Service was pretty slow but my spaghetti vongole was really yummy although the clams themselves weren't great. Would definitely go back but they must improve the slow service, and also get rid of some tables. They've crammed so many in and it was quite desolate as the restaurant was mostly empty.

This is one of those places which you don't want to review because it's so good - if the masses discover the truth then I'll never get a table booking.
We've taken lots of friends & relations and they've all loved it. Never known anyone to have anything other than a great meal.
The deli is dangerously good too with all sorts of delicious Italian treats.
So if you're after some Italian maybe try the Sheen branch & leave this little gem to us Putney-ites.

Bad experience. I had pollo ripieno, an awful chicken with boiled cream and some mash pototaes . My friend had the scaloppina, a veal dish with potatoes (again) and some artichoke (possibly from a tin).
We asked if the dessert were homemade and the answer was "NO!" Ridiculous!
The chefs can`t even make a pudding.

Love, love, love, love, love, love, love this place! Whether you go in for a take-away coffee, or a three course meal - all of the staff are *always* friendly, smiley, helpful, and proficient. They are a credit to the owners. I adore every element of this place - the deli at the front, the more relaxed dining downstairs at the back, and the smarter restaurant upstairs. The decor is also fabulous in each area - very fitting to each.
I have to recommend the scrambled eggs and salmon (on toast) downstairs - mountains of both, absolutely delicious, and amazing value for money. Possibly the best scrambled egg I've ever had. Upstairs - I love the seafood platter, which comes on a wonderful wood, erm, platter!
I've never bought/eaten/drunk anything here that was less than great. I took my father recently, and he can't stop raving about it. We now call it 'our place'. He has been involved with the catering/hotel industry for decades - so knows his stuff, and is immensely fussy (as am I).
Please stay in Putney forever Valentina! I love you!
PS I recently gave Wallace & Co. in Putney 0 - they could learn a LOT from Valentina. I hope they don't though - because Valentina don't deserve to lose any custom!

Tried this gem of a restaurant / tapas bar out just the other week on a Friday evening. The two of us perched at the bar and ordered a handful of different Spuntino dishes along with a fantastic bottle of red (they have sooooo many different choices of wine..). The restaurant was full but not over the top which is always a good sign. The food was fantastic and the wine (recommended by a very helpful chef) was the perfect accompliment.
Can't rate this place highly enough. The staff were very friendly, competent and informative.
I'm going back next month with 14 other people in tow. The restaurant has a separate dining/lounge type area on the first floor for a more intimate atmosphere. Looking forward to it.

Tried the new Valentina next door to East Putney tube station on Thursday. This is actually 2 restaurants in one: on the ground floor is a Spuntino bar - Italy's answer to Tapas, and on the 1st floor, there is a restaurant, which is what we tried.
Service is keen though erratic (probably because they've just opened), and the food is honest homestyle cooking. The antipasto platter had a very pungent truffle salami, while my partner's scallops wrapped in pancetta were soft and sweet: I would have liked a crisper finish to the bacon though.
My rosemary lamb cutlets were perfectly medium rare, while the tagliatelle al limone was extremely fresh tasting.
I would say my only complaint is that it's dangerously close to where I live, so I could spend far too much time in there: especially since they've got breakfast, lunch and dinner covered!
