Wow wow wow, I went to celebrate my birthday and believe me it was a fantastic experience. Unfortunately I'm one of these fussy eaters that find it hard to try new things; well this fantastic lady Yvette (owner and chef) was so nice, she made us all feel like she had invited us to her home and we were in her dining. She brought tasters for me and explained how each thing was made, which made me relax and feel at ease.

The food was out of this world, the way that Yvette experiments with West Indian food and puts her own personal twist into it is exceptional. I've been to many West Indian restaurants all over London and without a shadow of a doubt, 2 Sixteen is NUMBER 1 for having the warmest reception and most inviting ambience I've ever experienced.

I wish I could give 100 stars because 10 just doesn't cut it. Thank you 2 Sixteen and Yvette for the amazing food, beautiful reception and having us all dine in your dining room.

I contacted Yvette on a Monday (18th of April) to organise a birthday party for my friend the following day and...boy I was impressed!

Not only is she a great host, she is also a great chef! She prepared a fantastic buffet for us, and made a variety of dishes with so much care that all my friends were impressed. We all know caribbean food really well and we were amazed at how tasty the food actually was. It was also really well presented and not too hot.

The service was really warm, friendly and they made us feel really special.

The restaurant is normally closed on Tuesday night and we had the whole venue for ourselves which felt really intimate and confortable. Sweet reggae in the background...it is almost like you are in the Caribbean...

Yvette decorated the table and the restaurant for my friend's birthday and it was obvious that she knew exactly what she was doing. Very affordable, the party was good value for money.

In brief, I would highly recommend 2...Sixteen to anyone who fancies a lovely meal, cooked with love.

PS: the restaurant is also very romantic for those couples out there who fancy a caribbean date...

What a find!

I went to 2 . . . Sixteen on Saturday night (16th April 2011) with a couple of friends and we will definitely be back - probably next week!

Defying convention, we were all drawn to the same dishes - Jerk Wings and the Mutton Curry and we were stunned into silence by the wondeful rich flavours in both. Yvette was the consumate host even offering to e-mail me her Jerk wings recipe. The menu, like Yvette, originates in French Guiana, and captures all the rich traditions of that region. Once we got to talking about food Yvette's eyes lit up (you can tell she loves what she does) and leapt into the kitchen to fetch us some samples of her other dishes - gratis - as well as a shot of some seriously potent rum!

We were all charmed by the relaxed atmosphere and the wonderful food - finished off with Yvette's amazing home made ice creams. One of a few unpresumptuous yet very high quality restaurants in the area that serve great food at very reasonable prices and manage to conjure a relaxed and authentic experience for their guests. Very well done!

I am sorry that it's taken me so long to write this review: after a fantastic evening with amazing service the least that I could have done was to write a review the next day. Anyway, better late than never...

I visited 2...Sixteen one Friday night last autumn with a friend. We were in search of genuine Caribbean cooking and got all that and more. Yvonne, the totally charismatic and charming owner was really helpful right from the moment that we made our booking through to the moment that we left the cosy ambience of her beautifully decorated restaurant.

The cooking is fresh and utterly flavoursome. Yvonne is magnificent and makes sure that she talks you through each dish on the menu so that you understand what's on offer. I had the most amazing mutton curry and will definitely be back for that again.

Thank you Yvonne for a superb evening! If only all Caribbean restaurants were as good and as welcoming as yours...

My boyfriend and I ate here for the first time last night and were very impressed. The atmosphere is the restaurant is very relaxing and I described it as being in someone's lounge as it is so welcoming! Lovely, personalised deco and soft reggae being played in the background.

The restaurant was easy to find and there is ample parking on the road opposite.

The lady who owns and runs the restaurant is extremely welcoming and friendly and is happy to answer any queries or questions you may have. All of the food is home cooked and extremely fresh. The menu is simple and focuses on classic Carribean food which is cooked and presented very well. My boyfriend and I shared jerk wings and saltish fritters to start which were delicious and full of flavour. I went for the chicken curry for main and my boyfriend had the curry mutton. Both dishes again were fabulous with lots of flavour. The dishes came with a large bowl of rice and peas, coleslaw and fried plantain...very good portion sizes. We were stuffed by the end, but had room for the home-made desserts; coconut and mango cheesecake and mango ice cream. I felt slightly jealous of the table next to us who had gigantic slices of chocolate cake and carrot cake!

Our meal was brilliant overall, the ambience, the staff and the deco. We will definitely return. A couple next to us have been back every week for the last 3 weeks and there was a family who were from Middlesbrough who go there whenever they are in the area. I would say that this restaurant is the sort of place you want to go back to time and time again because of the atmosphere and the genuine quality of the food. Nothing fancy, but a lot of care put into each of the dishes. The owner is such a lovely woman too. The prices are very reasonable for the large portion sizes you get. Worth every penny!

I went along to two sixteen after being recommend by a friend. I was more than pleasantly surprised, its a far cry from your usual caribbean restaurants which sometimes can be a bit tired looking or a bit sparse. two sixteen on the other hand has beautiful artwork on display which I was told is the work of local artists. The food was delicous and very well presented, two sixteen has definately put a modern twist on caribbean food, I was also pleased to hear they deliver locally which is great as I only live in Muswell Hill, I will be recommending it to friends.

I had a great time at 2 sixteen. Me and 2 friends went there for a meal one friday night. We were greeted by a bubbly waitress who made us feel very welcome and with who we had great little conversations for the whole evening. The owner and chef was the waitresses mother who came out of the kitchen and introduced herself and recommended some dishes for us to share.

The food was great full of flavour and obvoiusly cooked with love!! I would recommend for starters spicy prawns, plantain fritters and saltfish fritters, for mains we had stew fish, Curry Mutton and stew chicken. all of which I would give 10/10.

This is far from your usual caribbean restaurant the surrounding walls are exhibiting local artists work which has a fresh and funky look, the interaction with the staff is much more friendly and personal, and generally just a good vibe.

The restaurant is modestly furnished and features a changing collection of art by local artists in the community. One wall is rendered in wood cladding and you get the feeling you could be in a secret beach hut somewhere in the Caribbean. The other walls are a warm red. There's a tiny bar in the back which Yvette plans on kitting out with some tables so that she can serve tasting portions of some of the menu selections to go along with her oh so good Rum Punch.

On this particular night we were determined to work our way further through the menu and try new dishes instead of gravitating to the immediate favourites from last time which were succulent spicy Jerk chicken and Yvette's signature dish 2...Sixteen fish stew that features whole tilapia, okra, pepper and more of her magic spice combinations.

So we ordered Saltfish Fritters for a starter and Mutton Stew and Ackee and Saltfish for our mains. The saltfish fritters were cooked in a wonderfully light batter and were served with a spicy aubergine mayonnaise that offset the saltiness of the fritters.

The mutton stew featured cubes of meltingly tender mutton that tasted and felt like it had been slowly cooked in the oven for many hours. It was flavoured with a spice combination that complemented the flavour of the meat without overpowering it. Ackee and saltfish was my favourite. I'd never had Ackee before. It's part of a fruit and looks a bit like scrambled egg. The dish had a heady kick of scotch bonnet that i can best describe as brain lubricating. After one bite i just felt this delicious glow wend it's way from my belly to my brain.

We drank a bottle of crisp rose that was a great foil to the spiciness of the food. Our pudding was gold leaf dusted chocolate boxes served with a fruit coulis that Yvette whipped up of mango and raspberries, served with a bowl of vanilla ice cream. Truth be told, i'd skip the chocolate boxes and go for just the fruit and ice cream.

The total bill was a very reasonable £39 which included 1 starter, 2 mains, dessert and a bottle of rose.
