had a great diner last sunday with my girlfriend at the palm.
we both had the oysters for starter, and a 400g matured rib eye each for main course.
the oyster were succulent and the meat was incredible, cook well, well season,. full of flavour, and so tender .all the side vegetable were very tasty too .
Everything was serve as big portions and good quality food, that one of the raison it doesn t ,seems very cheap on the menu, but a steak of this quality isn t anywhere, and I will be happy to have it again
the service was very friendly and efficient exactly as you would expect in this type of establishement, many thanks to mikael our waiter and specially steve the new man in charge of the restaurant,I even had the chance to see the kitchen

A restaurant one third full on a Saturday night is usually a good warning sign, but sometimes it is worth living life a little dangerously. Just not at this restaurant. London is in need of a few good steak restaurants, so I came to Palm with high expectations, especially having dined at their restaurants Stateside. I know jet fuel prices are high, but our cow must have flown over, quite comfortably, on a private jet. At £50 a pop for a 400g steak you start trotting into Wagyu price territory. The sirlion was quite unremarkable. I have had better steak in London at Gaucho, Goodmans, and at a friend's Sunday afternoon BBQ. The sides, while generally plentiful, were on the cold side of hot. As expected the prices on the wine list would make Trump blush, but what surprising was the restraint the restaurant showed in extorting their clientiele; the list is embarrassingly short, something that the 6 pages of font size 18 print could not hide. Dessert was tasty and they did not hold back on the portions. Perhaps, the restaurant's strategy involves giving the clientele a sugar high before they receive the bill. Speaking of the bill, it was of such magnitude that Umu suddenly looked like the Happy Meal option. A high-stakes game of credit card roulette is the only thing that would tempt me back to this expense-card blackhole. Even then, everybody at the table would be a loser. At £100 a head before wine for a two course dinner, it helps if you have a taste for instant noodles. That's all you'll be able to afford for the two weeks after dinner.

Went there on a Tuesday evening without reservation. Eventually got seated after a 25 minute wait by the bar. Service was friendly but a bit inattentive and staff had no memory. We ordered bread and butter and got bread but no butter. We ordered ketchup, mayo and mustard and got ketchup and mustard but no mayo. However, the best thing of this place are the prices! You get a (good but not exceptional) 10oz mignon for only £39. Plus sides, plus 12.5% tip! The bill for a party of three came to only £230 without starters and nothing fancy.

Service was really poor and we had to wait a lot before being seated.
Food was good but not exceptional at all. It is very noisy.
PRICES ARE COMPLETLY INSANE FOR WHAT YOU GET.

I visited the Palm for the second time with my wife on our anniversary. I am very familiar with the Palm in the states and I am a big fan of not only its beautiful cuts of beef but the wonderful "coming home" feeling the staff gives you from the moment you enter the restaurant. Unlike most British restauarants I have experienced where when you make a reservation, they tell you that they will accomodate you but you must leave the table no later than a specified time. Table turnover is the name of the game but NOT at the Palm. My wife and I arrived at 2pm and believe it or not did not leave until 8PM. We enjoyed every minute and not only were the servers superb and friendly but so was the management that dropped by our table to make sure everything was to our expectation, This particular night the owner of the privately-owned chain happened to be visiting from the states and was courteous enough to stop by and also ask if everything was as expected..If you want a superbly friendly and customer-service oriented restaurant with great food cooked exactly as you asked and a feeling that you can stay as long as you like, The Palm is the place for you.

I have tried this place 3 times over the last month (June/July 2009) and read several reviews (Evening Standard, score1/5, The Independent, 9/15) and can only concur: this is the BIGGEST rip off in London. I would even go further in most Continental European country with a bit of culinary history, this place would be shut down right away. To have a menu on paper is one thing. To consistently not be able to serve what is on list would cause people to ask to be indemnified.
First experience: 2 guests only: no American beef, they proposed the English version (50% more expensive than in any respectable steak house: non merci). We had to wait endlessly to get our food: results: a bill of 250£ (pound! at today's rate 350$) after a 2 hours wait.
Second experience on a Saturday. This time no lobster. In two visits this restaurant which prides itself on being able to provide you with American originated products is incapable of delivering on the 2 main items on its menu.
Today, last ever visit: No beef!!!! Instead, they proposed English beef. Do you think that England has waited for Palm to grill English beef with a 50% uptick??
Is that possible? Visit The Whole Food shop in Kensington: same American aged beef is costing you a quarter (you read well 25%!!) of the listed price at Palm. And yet they don't have it. BUT, they still don't tell customer coming in that they will not be able to satisfy them. This is crookery at its best. Ever tried an Italian restaurant short of pasta?
Rather than sending American personel to give the American experience they should send them to France, Benelux, Italy and Spain in restaurants charging the same .

It was my birthday last week so my lovely wife treated me to a slap up meal at "The Palm" on Friday night. We had eaten at Palm obver in Atlanta and were looking forward to the same upscale steakhouse food and service. The interior was really pleasant, light and airy with lots of cartoons painted on the wall. It gave the restaurant a relaxed feel which is often absent from this calibre of restaurant. We ate early so the restaurant wasn't full and their were a lot of staff hanging around, it did make the place look a bit untidy. However I learnt that a fair few of the staff were over from the States to train up the London team to offer the same degree of service you get back in the States. Our waiter was very friendly and knew his menu well. He was maybe trying a bit too hard but you could tell he was trying to pick up the US service standards which is to be encouraged. We opened up with a couple of seriously nice classic cocktails, followed by steak, sauted spinack, a side salad and half and half (onion rings and game chips). My steak was lovely very tasty and prefectly cooked. It maybe could have done with being a bit warmer but my wife's was spot on. The wine list was extensive and we went for a mid range Bordeaux which was extremely nice.
We had a little room left at the end and went for a key lime pie for my wife and a new york cheesecake for me. Both were excellent. The waiters came over to sing me Happy Birthday which was lovely. We really relaxed into the place especially as it filled up, no one rushed us and you certainly feel valued. They took the deserts of the bill as a birthday treat which was a very nice touch. The steaks are expensive but the sides, deserts and drinks are pretty reasonable. It is a fun place and it deserves to do well. Not at all stuffy, we will definetly be heading back soon.

Not just American 'style' steaks and lobsters, these beauties are flown in every few days from New York and Maine. Both are tender as butter, succulent and meltingly perfect. The New York cheesecake is literally made to (Chef's) Mumma's own recipe, and the chocolate pudding smooth and rich, rich, rich.
Crossing into Europe for the first time, the only concession to Britishness on the Pont Street menu is a selection of locally sourced meats (required by law), featuring some of the best lamb the UK produces. A single quibble is the house practice of serving side orders of vegetables “family-style”, which means everyone at the table has to like the same veg.
There was one absentee last night: although on the menu, Jumbo Shrimp will only be made available when the ever-demanding owners locate a source of sufficient caliber. Given the care and flair with which everything else has been done, they should be worth waiting for.
Many ex-Drones staff have been re-employed by Palm and the owners are touchingly aware of the role their restaurant plays in local life. Judging by the reactions last night, the locals are pretty happy too. Palm is something quite new, a genuine taste of America in London. With it’s fixed menu, focus on service, quality, attention to detail and the sky-high standards the best American restaurants provide… Are we seeing the arrival of a London restaurant that guarantees a great dining experience? That would be a welcome addition to the capital.
