I am chinese from a chinese cooking family, having tried many chinese restaurants and my father being head chef at many a chinese restaurant in his time, I would have to say that this restaurant food has seen better days. I used to come to this retaurant on a regular absis as it was one of the only restaurants still open after midnight, but I have to say that the food is definately not what it used to be, it seems that food is getting worse, especially with very thick sauces and the incredicle amount of msg they are now putting in the food.

Although the service was good ,it was more like eating in someones front room - or kitchen, as the washing up sink was within the same room! We had the set meal for 2 - which was sufficient, but we found the food far too salty. Definately not a place that we'd return too.

It's always great to have a decent place to eat after midnight. The Dragon Inn offers a good variety of Chinese dishes and a good selection of wines. There are 3 set-menus for £15, £18 and £25 p.p. (vegetarian, standard and seafood respectively)and a variety of other dishes (soups, noodles, dim sum etc.). We tried the £18 set menu and it was satisfactory both in terms of quality and quantity -though not excellent. It had a selection of starters, duck and pancakes, two main courses accompanied by rice and desert. The service could have been faster -the customers that were sitting next to us were complaining a lot about it- but maybe during the day it is faster (I was there between 12-2 a.m.) . The place looks clean (for Chinatown-standards anyway) and taken care of but I always feel trapped in this kind of closed restaurant rooms and I prefer restaurants with big windows. Last remark: why the bill in Chinatown is almost always only in Chinese? I would like to know the price of the things I pay for and though it might be ‘exotic’ to have it in Chinese as well, since the restaurant operates in England they ought to give you a detailed bill in English instead of the familiar little paper with ideograms and only the total sum in English. This system makes splitting the bill impossible!

I am chinese from a chinese cooking family. I used to bring my friends here after midnight as there is not much choice elsewhere.

I used to like the food here but it has really gone downhill. The sauces are too thick and the msg is used too much, too often leaving me very thirsty all the time.

The congee and dim sum there till 3am in the morning are absolutely delicious. I can't believe that I can find a restuarant in china town after 5pm that is still selling dim sum, and at such a good quality.

If you are looking for dim sum after 5pm, then this is the place to go to. Although the refurbishment there is slightly old, but the dim sum there is so far best in China town.

This restaurant has been used by family and Chinese friends for some years now on account of the excellent dim-sum menu. We usually only visit on Sunday and judging by the numbers of chinese queueing to get in is a testimony to its enduring popularity. Staff, even on ultra-busy Sunday, rarely fail to smile and offer advice on the menu choices and will tell you how long you can expect to wait.Very child- friendly, as we always take the kids, and you have to try the mussells in black bean and also the chicken feet in black bean sauce. A gem.
