Eat all you can for less than a sixer. This place will please even the carnivores. Delicious and cheap, which even makes the tap water taste decent.

This restuarant is just excelent, the service was great, the food was great and the seating capacity was also great.
We went to chutneys for my friends birthday and we booked a table downstairs. The seating capacity was just wonderful, the decor of the restuarant was really nice, the food was just lovely and its great value for money. I never knew that there was such a big selection of vegetarian dishes to choose from and if it wasnt for the fact that my friend, whos a vegetarian, i would never have tried it. I recommend this restuarant to everyone! Whether your vegetarian or not, its truely a wonderful experience. Sunny

I'm Indian, lived there for all but the three months I've been here in London; Chutneys is good! Some of the dishes -- like the chutneys themselves, a couple of the curries -- are sweet though, when they really shouldn't be (and I suspect that's a function of its location in Central London with a lot of non-Indians eating there, if the same restaurant was in Southall or Wembley they wouldn't be), but most of the buffet is good, the starters are amazing, I almost teared up when I saw bondas and pakodas in London after so long, the desserts are good, and 6 pounds for a buffet lunch (going by London's sky high prices) is a good deal.
Go to this place!

Still the best vegetarian buffet to be had in London. I've even been in there in the run-up to Christmas when they seemed to have extra choice.
Wonderful - and where else would you get "apple chutney" apart from all the other delights?
Great for lovers, co-workers, friends and singles - good time to be had by all.

I use to go to Chutney's for, all my birthday celebration meals with my vegetarian and non vegetarian friends and everyone loved the variety of vegetarian choices, For the past few years I had not been there but recently I have been with my boyfriend on several occasions for a buffet and also evening meal and noticed that it has improved a great deal, more salad dishes and as my boyfriend has been a regular visitor before I met him we had a great deal in comman and enjoy going there and sharing our dishes.

Went on Sunday 26th May 07, 2 veggie friends, and 2 us non-veggie - WOW - food fabulous, help youself style, and SO cheap! Would recommend to anyone who likes curry, veggie or not. Such choice for my veggie friends particularly as they could try so much that was different. We all loved it.

Great food on the evening menu normally, sometimes a bit too salty but you mention it to the waiter and they sort it for you. They also offer a lunch time buffet, which is normally outstanding for the price. As I've gone there SO many times, of course there had to be the odd exception but best Vegetarian Indian in London, I think especially seen over the last 10+ years! Try the COLD STARTERS and the MUTTA PANEER, a treat!

Interesting southern-India vegetarian dishes at low prices. We had uthappam (kind of flat bread incorporating vegetables, coming with some souces), special thali (rice with 3 different sauces) coming with a paratha (crispy flat bread with vegetable fillings) which was very tasty. For dessert we had Gulab Juman (sweet dumplings in syrup) and Kerala Delight (kind of crepe filled with fruits and a sauce). The place is small and a bit cramped but overall the atmosphere was ok. We will go again.

Phoned in the morning to try and book for a large party. When I phoned, I was told tersely "Call back after 12" and the person I was speaking to hung up on me! How rude! It certainly puts me off taking my custom there in future.
Had he waited two more seconds before hanging up he would have found that I wanted to book for 12pm, so calling back after that time was not an option.
