Westminster Noodle Bar

hand pulled and knife shaved noodles, whisked off by a thuggish looking chinaman who really knows what he's doing.
apparently he's come all the way from china to do it specially. and the results? to die for, honestly. absolutely fantastic.
ambience is non existent. but you aren't there for that.
one bowl of their chilli beef soup with knife shaved noodles and you'll forget about pho in an instant.
this, my friend, is the duck's business.

A Rather Unusual Chinaman
Sunday, February 06, 2011 - Once you look past the sheen of the hotlamps, you will see a guy hand pulling noodles to order. Rumour has it that he was flown over specifically to perform this role, and in all fairness, I have seen him do little else...Although the rare beef version (number 1 on the menu) seems to come highly recommended, I always seem to opt for the spicy chicken. Although the broth seems to change on every visit, nothing quite hits the spot on a cold winters day than a freshly made pot of steaming and spicy noodles. Well worth dropping in, and not just for a takeaway as they have a few tables out back too.
Dos Hermanos
Thursday, July 02, 2009 - I had to wait a while, the chef wanting to let his dough rest, but when it was deemed ready, he cut it up and then deftly flung it out until it had transformed from one strand to many, before plunging it in boiling water. The end result was as good a budget lunch as I have tried in London for a long time. The noodles retained some bite and the broth, when spiced up with a liberal addition of chilli was nourishing and delicious. The price is, I imagine less than you probably spend at the Pret-a-Manger a few doors down on the same street. A real bargain.
