I go here occasionally at lunch times. The set menu is an absolute blinder...really top notch tucker at a good price. I have my samosas, my chicken madras, rice and bread and come out a truly happy man, ready for a thoroughly good kip at my desk. The talis are also excellent. They should hold back on the salad garnish - I keep having to ask for a plate to dump that on. I mean, what is that all about anyway? Also they have sometimes been slow to come to the table with the bill, but nothing that a swift kick in the slacks won't sort out if it enrages you that much. I would highly recommend this.

I have been here quite a few times now, with my last dine being yesterday for dinner using a toptable redemption meal. I can't say I agree with the comments below, I have always and still find the food extremely tasty, service very good and no pushy waiters. The drinks are slightly more than average but if you book using the special offer which seems to be constantly available, you can get a very reasonable two course meal in beautiful surrounds coupled with good service for less than £25.

We came here because of the 50% price deal and the large selection of thalis (they advertise a great variety of thalis as their specialty everywhere) after really looking forward to a lovely thali to our great dissappointment we learned that thalis are ONLY available on their lunch menu. When the bill arrived it became clear that we shouldn't have bothered coming here for the 50% deal either because that works a bit like a cheap one way fare in a ryan air ad...thanks to all sorts of extras (charging every single poppadom, drinks etc.) you end up paying exactly the same you would normally maybe even a bit more pay PLUS you have to endure an incredibly hard sell from the amazingly annoying waiter who is costantly pushing you to order a double espresso instead of a single one, a peshwari nan instead of a plain one, special rice instead of plain rice. When one of our party of 5 couldn't immediately decide on what he wanted to eat the waiter impatiently said he was just going to pick something for him which turned out to be one of the most expensive items on the menu, naturally. That's just how things work there. All that hard sell makes the whole experience somewhat unrelaxed and a bit annoying and at some point I wished we had picked a place without any discounts so we could have just had a nice thali in peace. The food wasn't anything special either. It was all a little too bland and too rich for my taste. I had butter chicken which can be incredible if it's done properly but the chicken and the taste just dissapeared in a sea of something resembling sickly sweet whipped cream with a drop of honey on top, in the chicken tikka masala you could actually taste instant tomato soup. The lamb tikka was incredibly chewy. My Palak Paneer was alright but again, a bit too rich and a bit too bland - ok but considering the added up cost of this '50%deal' this is nothing special at all. There is far better indian food out there for this sort of price. I can't recommend the india for the price nor for the food and especially not for the service.

A very cosy restaurant, nice location.
We went there for dinner with a big group of people and unfortunately it was a bit disappointing. The service was very slow and the food was cold when everybody finally had their main course.
The food discount with toptable sounds great but mind the costs of the drinks! We had a huge bill in the end and were really shocked. They charged 7£ for a shot of tequila or sambuca which I think is rather unusual. Despite the massive bill there were no freebees as you would get in other restaurants with such a big group.
Overall none of us would recommend this restaurant, unless you are going to stick to one glass of wine, or don't mind a big bill.

I visited this restaurant on a Friday evening. For an off the beaten track location, it was nearly full and it seemed everyone here had a table booked.
It's a lovely restaurant which looks like an underground cave with three tunnels where all the diners seat.
We ordered the chicken tikka starter which was fantastic and soft and the shish kebab. For the main course we had chicken tikka masala, a bit too much coconut for my liking, and a balti which was very tasty. Naan and rice very good.
My only complaint was the service was very slow. One table of 4 people walked out as they were trying to get some attention to order food and after 15 minutes they gave up and left. Also our bill was incorrect. We were charged an extra £9 for drinks which we did not have.
I would go back as it's a lovely ambience and the food was really good. But just don't have high expectations about the service and make sure you check your bill!
