Nakhon Thai (City)

I couldn't agree more with the previous reviewer Mark. I can't believe such a place can even exist in the heart of the City, where you would expect the average customer to be more difficult to please than any where else. I had the misfortune of visiting this place last friday night. I checked out their website and liked what I saw before dropping in. On arriving there I wondered if they had put a different restaurant's pictures on their website as the bar looked nothing like it did on their website. We were lead to the restaurant area through a little door at the back past the toilets and down a narrow spiral stairs. Although the decor in the restaurant area wasn't bad, the waitress certainly was. She was inattentive if not plain rude, carrying on her conversation with her colleague as she was taking our order, which meant we had to repeat it twice. Both my starter and main dish tasted ok, neither great or particularly bad. It is the service and ambience that was a let down. Usually I experience such cold service and bad toilets at indian curry houses. This Thai one was no different.

I thought it rubish. The place was tatty. Waitresses were rude. The food was at best average and there was a 12.5% service charge!!!!

I experienced this wonderful eastern eatery on a friday night . From the moment we walked into the retaurant,welcoming staff were being attentive.

The atmosphere was exqusite,as was the cocktails and starters.

The mains was mouth watering,food was cooked to perfection and I can not praise the staff enough on how helpfull they all were ensuring that our needs were meet.

I will most definitely come back again at least once a month to indulge in this beautiful Thai delight! This restaurant has made it into my top 10.

Nakhon Thai (near ExCeL waterfront) was a pleasant surprise considering I popped into it by an accident. The food (chicken Satay) was absolutely fantastic and so was everything else. The waitresses were pleasant and nice. Interior is another thing to praise helping to create that intimate and personal atmosphere. It didn't look cheap compared to something like Wong Kei or Tuk Tuk but hey, it's a higher class! I think the value for money is excellent too considering what you get. Frankly, it must be one of the best restaurants I have been to.

Unfortunately I've had a bad expierence with the soup 'Tom-Yum-Goon'. I think they've used mushroom out of the can but this is where we have a disagreement.
