Jasper Gerard - 6/10

Friday, February 19, 2010 - We try the speciality, including kebabs sold by the metre. Gulp. They are a mixture of modern and traditional. Our minced grilled lamb adana kebab lands on a wooden platter, so long you could float down the Bosphorus on it. You wrap the meat in thin lavash bread which soaks up the juices, chucking in onions, chargrilled tomatoes, peppers and parsley. Overwhelming, but tender and flavoursome. Less successful is ali nazik, a southern Turkish dish of roasted aubergine puree with yogurt, scattered with minced lamb. The lamb is pretty good but the sour yogurt overpowers the aubergine.

Authentic Turkish cuisine in the heart of the City served by attentive staff in a chic setting. It's stylish and suave, buzzy downstairs with a more intimate setting upstairs. But it's the food which is a revelation: hummus that is actually the colour of chickpeas rather than that grey slop, overly flavoured with tahini, that most restaurants insist on serving; wafer-thin slices of perfectly grilled lamb served with a yoghurt dressing that creates a great blend of high acidity with umami; baklava served with fragrant mastic icecream with hints of rosewater and cardamom. The Turkish Sauvignon Blanc was pretty good too!

Slightly extraordinary place - I have never had Turkish food this good in London, the decor is rather chic, it is bang in the middle of my work area, and the prices are extremely reasonable. Would definitely go back. You can eat upstairs if you want to escape the cocktail hum downstairs.

By far the best turkish food I have tried in London!

Went here last night for with a friend. A nice selection of starters, but it is the grilled mains that were truly superb. And you have to try their desserts!

The service was very good also, attentive but not intrusive, looking after our table very well.

Not expensive at all and even all bread was free.

I loved it! perfect blend of Greek and Turkish cuisine (tipically of Izmir) with a nice twist... Ask the owner to recommend the best dishes ... you won't be disappointed.
