Matahari Restaurant

I really cannot recommend this absolute gem of a restaurant highly enough! The food is amazing and reasonably priced and excellent for vegetarians, but there are also masses of meat and fish options as well. The service is efficient and the staff are incredibly warm and friendly. There are so many dishes to recommend, but I would recommend:

Starters: - Spicy aubergine - melt in the mouth deep fried aubergine served with a very hot chili and spring onion garnish.

-Satay beancurd - by far the best satay sauce I have ever had - truely tasty and fresh and not like some peanut butter concoction I have had in other restaurants.

- Vegetarian dumplings - very light and fluffy with crispy vegetables inside.

Main Courses: - Mixed vegetable curry sounds simple and not very interesting, but is quite spicy with a delicious light coconut and chili sauce. Always very fresh and I can never resist it!

- Prawn or aubergine sambal - spicy and delicious.

- Mixed vegetables with cashewnuts in black bean sauce. Very freshly chopped vegetables in a deliciously light but incredibly tasty black bean sauce. One of my favourites and also suitable for vegans.

- Singapore noodles - they always make this without fish or meat for me. Again, very fresh vegetables and sliced chili accompany lightly cooked rice noodles.

- Nasi Goreng (again, they do a vegetarian version of this without fish or meat for me) and again, very fresh and compliments the curries very well.
